Overview
RANAZEEL VASEN-DARKAS
Lady Ranazeel Vasen-Darkas lived a life full of duty and tragedy. While many of the events that befell her were well- known, she herself was relatively unknown. Born to a high class of merchants as Ranazeel Darkas, she was bright, intelligent, quiet, and beautiful, with an effortless grace. She also had a stubbornness that saw her through hard times. Ranazeel's first tragedy was her love of Sir Nathim Ista Ankur, a soldier who, soon after their love began to bloom, was supposedly killed in battle. Time passed and what was believed to be his body was sent to Unot, and yet tragic love did not end there. Praying in the temple, she encountered none other than Nathim, changed and with few memories even of her. Despite his miraculous return the two drifted apart, never again recapturing their original love.
Soon after this, Ranazeel's second tragedy in life came to public attention. She was cornered and raped by her uncle, a Mer Hanif. Forced to take oaths of secrecy, this remained hidden for a time, but after witnessing her uncle escape charges of another accusation of rape, Ranazeel went forward, and the case ended with Mer Hanif's death (news Hanif). Just a few short years after this, Ranazeel lost both of her parents in the breath plague that struck Anarinuell in the year 20 A.U.
Despite these tragic losses, Ranazeel survived and thrived. Following the death of her parents, Ranazeel and her siblings were adopted by Lord Vahseli Vasen-Darkas, elevating them to nobility. Ranazeel's youth and training from a merchant class family were put to good use by the Griffon clan as they made her minister of economics, a post she served in for several years. In the year 24 A.U. Ranazeel was chosen as a marriage prize by the infamous haffie Draugik, elevating him to lordship after his initial desire to marry Lady Aldrissa was not allowed. It is said over the years that the two came to love each other, though initially it was quite a rocky marriage.
Ranazeel's final tragedy was loving her husband. When Draugik's traitorous actions began (news zeysani's war), Ranazeel fled the city to join him. The tragic events brought the deaths of the entire family, beginning with the death of Draugik himself, all of his children for the crimes of their father, and a death by hanging of Ranazeel herself for joining him, judged on August the 2nd in the year 36 A.U.
