Festival Peace Broken!

Horrors of all horrors, all seemed to be going well this past Spring Festival but at Closing Ceremonies High Priestess Chelona Dranieez of Eesha announced that shortly before a man had broken the Festival Peace and attacked Lord Daemio Sennet of the Griffon Clan. The young lord reportedly refused to fight back, not wishing to break Festival Peace himself, but by then the damage was done. Eesha's own Festival has been tainted with the stain of violence, which is surely a huge offense against the Goddess. In order to appease the Goddess of Love, Honour, and Oaths, Mother Chelona asks all to join her and the other priests and priestesses of Eesha at Her temple for a prayer vigil that will last several days.

Pentathlon Prizes Claimed!

As is tradition, the three Pentathlon winners claimed their prizes at the end of the Spring Festival. Mer Asalan Valerian and Dame Balinda Garkansen both chose land. Lord Adan however - who since his divorce has gone without a last name - chose the hand of the lovely lady Yassamin Ista Barun of the Cockatrice Clan. And so ends one of the more scandalous love stories of the past decade, with 'The Defiler' claiming the woman of his heart with the blessing of Eesha Herself.

Republic Awards Ceremony!

An Awards Ceremony to honour those brave Firans, Ticanee, Bonduin, and other members of the Republic who fought to liberate Ellish took place during the last days of Spring Festival. All who faced combat during the War Season of 42 A.U. were given a personalized Battle Award, and those who are no longer with us will have their awards send to their family. Many others however were given special awards, most noticeably among them Lord First General Donos Ista Aldrik, who received the Medals_and_Awards#Republic_Medal_of_High_HonorlRepublic Medal of High Honour]]. No less than ten persons received the Republic Medal of Honour, namely Prince General Savaren Elianik, Lord Nydiam IstaNydiam, Lord General Zafir Junik, Dame General Alexa Wolfhawke, Lord Captain Marsalos Iberik, Lord Captain Adan, Dame Captain Sarina Whitefeather, Lady Centurion Melani Elikista, Centurion Sharin Rissik, and Sentry Elif Aedilik. There are however reports of protests from the likes of Sir Commander Alessandro Keniwik when he learned that his father - the legendary Sir General Vasyklo Garkansen - was not given even a Battle Award, and Centurion Jericho Iyandin was openly displeased that his wife Priestess Kodiachi of Uf was not given a Republic Achievement Scroll like other priests were.

A list of all awards and recipients can be found here.

New Republic Awards!

During the Awards Ceremony, several new Republic Awards were announced. These were:

A Heroic Rescue!

Rumour has it that a child from the Griffon Clan, Mes Willow Verrader, proved herself a hero in spite of her tender age this Spring Festival. When wandering along the riverside, the girl heard cries of help coming from the river and noticed the flaying arms of a woman lost in the waters. This woman proved to be none other than Lady Ildria Iberik, wife of Lord Marsalos - one of Zin's own priests. The ten-year-old didn't hesitate and after calling out a warning to the festival goers dove into the water and she managed to bring both herself and the noblewoman safely back on land. Although Lady Ildria appeared to be in bad shape, she has since recovered.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Arrr-Less Weeks!

With Spring Festival over, Pirate Kidfest is no more and so is the requirement that all children say 'Arrr' whenever someone says a word starting with a Y. Finally we can address children with "Heh you... stop that!" once more, without immediately regretting it.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor,

I'm writing this as I just want to thank everyone who thinks I'm a hero. I'm just a kid and I did what I thought was right. In one of Lady Shadina's lectures she stated that saving a life is more important than introductions. She's right. I'm just glad I know how to swim.

I am very happy that Lady Ildria is gonna be fine. She's a very nice lady. It's special to have helped her as I am gonna be a Lady's Maid when I have my ceremony in a few years. But I would have helped anyone who needed it if I could. One of the Gods said not to wait for heroes but to be heroes yourself. So, I was just obeying the law and being a good Griffon.

Thank you for printing the letter. I know you don't get many from kids.

Signed ~Mes Willow Verrader.

Breathing Compresses Available!

Spring has arrived, and with it the desire to go for swimming of boating trips. Sometimes these go awry however, since both the Ani and Uell can be unpredictable at times. And those who fail pray to the waters may suffer from trauma to the lungs. Fortunately for them, the new breathing compresses are now available at various points across the city. Apparently both the Gold Dragon and the Chimera Medical Clinics are stocked up on free compresses for those in need of them.

OOC TIPS

Wizard Seeks Plot Lines!

Leia - Senior OCD Information Wizard - is putting together a list of plot lines running around the game. If you feel you are in an ongoing plot line whether it is long running, new, or recently submitted, please @request with a short summary of the details. If you have more than one plotline, Leia appreciates it if you put them in one single @request. This goes for both personal and staff-run plots, anything goes... she just wants to be kept informed.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

"Now that Ellish has been liberated, all recipients of the Republic High Medal of Honour will have their names inscribed at the bottom of a statue that will be erected in their honour. Which names - other than Lord First General Donos's - will thus appear in Ellish stone? And where on the grid can I find this information?"
