Republic Scorekeepers

Republic Scorekeeper is a vocation that was created by Ranivor Elianos, like so many positions within Anarinuell. The first of the profession was Sir Quonasi of the Ticanee Clan, though many have followed since. Republic Scorekeepers are known for many things, but first and foremost for their vast knowledge of the rules of nearly all games and sport. They can be counted on to host nearly any gaming event -- whether Olympic, Festival, or off-season -- because of this vast knowledge, and also because of the fact that they are known to be impartial and fair judges. The good Scorekeepers gain admiration and respect from the populace for their trade and incorruptible natures where judging is concerned. The ones that add a little flair and are known as the best have even gained nearly as much fame as the great athletes they officiate.

As a Republic position, they make their paycheck from the Ranivor (or Viceroy), usually through the Minister of Entertainment or Games, although they can also work independently from each entity. If there is a lag in city entertainment one month, or a dull day in the Festival, Republic Scorekeepers will host events on their own without direction -- these tend to be impromptu battle royales, or mini-pentathlons with solely monetary rewards. So, whether during the busy seasons of the festivals or Olympics, or in other parts of the year all-together, Republic Scorekeepers can be expected to be a part of city life and entertainment.
