The Rianavalu Family

Led by: Panisto Rianavalu

Overview

This well-respected middle class Hydran family descended from Penar Rianavalu, a long-time guard and resident of the city of the city of Arinzi, earned the respect of the Hydra Clan by doing their best to accomodate newcomers from that "sinful" city of Anarinuell. When Penar's wife Janaruela died in their elder years, he remarried, much to the resentment of his two children: Piarres and Claudia. Nalinuela, his second wife, was from the Clan of the Eagle with stunningly beautiful blonde hair and was somewhat of a celebrity there. The couple produced two more children together, Benetto and Symeon Rianavalu. When Penar died, he left the family farm and lands to his son Piarres -- under one condition. Piarres must, as Head of Household, provide for his second wife and their children for the entirety of their lives. Moreover, the will specified that after Piarres' death, the family lands must go to a male heir of Penar's bloodline.

Rumor has it that upon hearing this, Piarres said some decidedly ugly words to his stepmother, who then cursed him to never have anything but daughters. Piarres' wife Selva died trying to give him sons, but all five children -- Irina, Dantana, Omnesti, Yapra and Aleria -- were female. Although trained as a locksmith, Piarres turned to Zutiv and the priesthood upon feeling that the curse would never be lifted. It is said he disdains the more Inquisitorial role, preferring to play family confessor and help counsel people with their problems.

The Rianavalu family would later move to the dreaded city of Anarinuell, away from their simple lifestyle, with the intention of spreading their good example to the perilously immoral city. Unfortunately, it would seem that the city would have a reverse effect on them. Their family history is riddled with divorce, child neglect, and treason. Yet, the family has had two daughters marry into nobility and Piarres has risen to High Priest despite all other expectations. Other men are active in the clan military, while Panisto serves as a Clan Minister. Even the many of the women hold respectable positions as nannies and teachers.

Dantana's first marriage to Hugannelli would occur in 24 A.U. After having several children together, and adopting another, the couple divorced -- admist rumors of the Rianavalu woman's promiscuity. They would later remarry, much to the chagrin of Hugannelli's intended wife, Zeezee Aurik. But, the second marriage did not last long, as Hugannelli was killed in 30 A.U. after getting too involved in a domestic abuse situation. Dantana's subsequent pregnancy -- which was quite obviously not the work of her deceased husband -- soon caused scandal and resulted in the loss of her children, including the babe she carried, immediately after her birth. She was forced to marry Hugannelli's brother, Panisto, to reclaim them in 37 A.U. She has since had several children with her second husband, as well as adopted a little boy.

Benetto, the middle son, married young Letitia Jaldrish in 25 A.U. What began as a hasty marriage -- thanks to another suitor of Letitia's -- soon cumulated into disaster. The couple's children, Tianette and Letitia, were placed in foster care in 30 A.U. in response to allegations of neglect. They would later reclaim their children and have a third daughter, Bellona. Benetto has no sons, as of yet, and is thus not a full warrior.

In 27 A.U., Piarres' eldest daughter Irina married a fellow Priest, Brother Rasmus Montigo. The young (now Gold Dragon) mes lay dying after the birth of her first child, a son. She would have died, had it not been for the healing touch of Zutiv, who in addition to saving her life, turned her hair snow white. However, four children later, she lost her life in childbirth with her youngest son, Jalen.

Yapra, the second youngest of Piarres' daughters, married the son of the famous Throg in 28 A.U. -- Firgus Keniwik. She became a member of the Gold Dragon Clan, gained a noble title shortly thereafter, and for a while it all seemed too good to be true. The couple had five children together, but then Firgus was captured during the war season 34 A.U. A year passed, a few more, and soon it became apparent that he was not going to return. Yapra and her children would all assume commoner titles once again when she was unable (or unwilling?) to marry another noble to retain her nobility.

Shortly thereafter was the marriage of Symeon, the youngest son, to Mes Quiranda Firabi in 28 A.U. It has thus far proved to be a good match, with three children resulting: Risnos, Amara, and Syra.

In 32 A.U., there was much celebration when Aleria, the youngest of Piarres' daughters, was engaged to married Clan Leader Amenik Istabelik's adopted brother, Seriss Istabelik. The two married and had a son, Adren, who died shortly after he was born. In 36 A.U., more sorrow found its way to the Hydran lady, when her husband was executed for treason upon the Stone of Redemption. She was deemed to be blameless and was returned to her maiden family -- a commoner once again -- under the protection of the Hydran Royal Family.

Tragedy struck again in 36 A.U., when Piarres' headstrong daughter Omnesti was executed. Determined to be a warrior, the Hydran mes could not be dissuaded from this path, eventually joining the Chimera Clan and becoming part of the military. However, Omnesti's radical ideas and unethical nature landed her in trouble when she was found guilty of lying to Hydra Clan Officials. As punishment, she was to be whipped on the Stone of Redemption. She continued to spout blasphemy, and to purify her soul, was executed.

After 21 years without a wife, Piarres married Lyssa in late 38 A.U. The couple adopted a young boy named Adriel from Zutiv's Blessing Orphanage in 40 A.U. However, this event would be eclipsed by the birth of their first child in 41 A.U., Zatian Rianavalu. With the birth of a son, it would seem that the curse that had long stressed and strained family relations had been officially broken.
