Official Statement

My name is Savanna Samiroon and I strive to be worthy. My only guess as to why Governor Hralib's armor might be missing, is that everything I craft is of the finest quality, and the armor protected him well. Without it, Governor Hralib would be easier to kill. But what does a silly slave girl know? After all, your slave girl Yvette has been crying and upset all day, as if she actually mourned Governor Hralib--or perhaps it's a guilty conscience!

Background

Savanna's mother is a famous Firan armorer. As soon as the Shamibelians found this out, they put Savanna to work, and she is now one of the most wealthy and productive slaves in Anarinuell.

Savanna has had a hard life. Her husband, Nessik, died on the battlefield fighting for Anarinuell. She was never able to find his body, or his wedding necklace, and she often feels as if she is haunted by his lost soul. In her depression and loneliness, she turned to a lover for comfort. Anything to get the taste of Malentez's Shamibelian kisses off of her mouth.

It's been hard getting over Nessik, but she's finally found some small measure of happiness with someone new. She would like to get married again, but with Nessik's wedding necklace missing, she'll never be able to be unbound.

Relationships

  • Malentez - Savanna's master, she has to sleep with him as well as provide her labor.
  • Zaridos - once an Eagle prince, now just another one of Malentez's slaves.
  • Czar - A Bonduin slave and overseer belonging to Malentez.
  • Osirus - Savanna has been carrying on a secret relationship with this Hydran.
  • Lucas - another former prince, Savanna has been carrying on secret meetings with him.
  • Renik - Savanna's younger brother.
  • Nessik -- Savanna's dead husband.

Goals

  1. Savanna should earn enough money to buy her freedom.
  2. Savanna should find out who raped her during a recent raid and make them pay. Having to sleep with Malentez is bad enough.
  3. Savanna should get a warrior to teach her how to fight with a hammer.
  4. Savanna should touch a Hydran and make them miserable.

Savanna Round One

Round One Reveal

Savanna noticed that the rug from Malentez's tent was missing this morning. Could a serial killer be murdering Shamibelians and their slaves, and stealing from her master at the same time? Goodness, before the invasion, there were guards who handled this kind of thing. It just goes to show that the criminal element can be found in every society.

Savanna's mother is a famous Firan armorer. As soon as the Shamibelians found this out, they put Savanna to work, and she is now one of the most wealthy and productive slaves in Anarinuell. What reason would she have to threaten that?

Hralib's young son, his favorite, disappeared shortly after they settled in Anarinuell. The boy was not even old enough for the gauntlet, and now that he's presumed dead, Hashi is the only heir.

On the other hand, everyone knows that Hashi can be notoriously lazy, and a serious partier. Wouldn't killing Hralib take too much time, planning and energy?

Everyone knows that Lainath challenged Hralib to battle several times for the hand of his step-daughter, Tabitha. Each time, Lainath was defeated, though narrowly. He might have given up trying to beat Hralib fairly, and murdered him instead.

Everyone knows that Akiva pled on her knees with Hralib not to let Tatomir sacrifice her aunt Fidelia at the Night of Obala's Pride, but Hralib told her that Fidelia was old and useless to him as a slave. Akiva was also whipped for her insolence, but it was clear from her eyes that she would never forgive him.

Savanna knows the quarterbreed Lainath is a good warrior--Hralib beat him a few times, but he was young and getting better all the time. He could have killed Hralib, especially if he took him unawares.

Savanna works with a forge, day in and day out. She's constantly surrounded by ashes. There's nothing suspicious about that.

Round One Conceal

Savanna may seem like a demure slave, but she wields a hammer with brutal efficiency--in fact, she killed a man during the invasion that way.

Savanna once said that she'd rather kill Malentez in his sleep than bear a haffie baby.

Savanna has been stepping out on Malentez with Osirus N'Gato. She's done everything she can to keep their illicit affair secret.

Savanna heard her lover Osirus telling the other slaves that the only way to get free is to cut the head from the body--murder Hralib, and maybe the Shamibelians will have to retreat from Anarinuell.

Savanna knows that if Hralib had bought her away from Malentez and made her an armorer for the army, it would have been nearly impossible for her to buy her freedom. Plus, she would be a traitor against the remaining Free Firan Republic.

Savanna was recently raped during a raid, and though she didn't get a good look at the raiders, she's always been sure it was Hralib who did it.

Savanna knows that Vitara Nobifa, Hralib's wife, was having an affair with Malentez Samiroon. Could Hralib have found out about it, and been on the verge of killing her for the insult to his honor?

Nobifa invited Malentez, Savanna's master, to make a challenge for her hand in marriage, but he thought it would be best to wait until after Hralib had finished clearing her land and set her up properly in Anarinuell.

Savanna's master Malentez was having an affair with Hralib's newest wife, Nobifa. Such an insult in Shamibelian culture would lead almost inexorably to a duel to the death and Malentez wasn't the kind to take risks. Hralib probably found out about him and Nobifa, so doesn't it make sense that Malentez murdered him?

Savanna knows that Malentez stole the rug Hralib was found wrapped up in, and that the rug was stolen from Vitara Pevifa's house. If Malentez did kill Hralib, Savanna wants to see him pay for it, but doesn't want to be caught being the one who convinces everyone else of his guilt.

Round One Props

  • a hammer
  • multi-colored wooden bead wedding necklace
  • a weapons permit
  • an armor permit
  • an tools permit

Savanna Round Two

Round Two Reveal

Savanna knows that Akiva has been running a very lucrative underground permit forgery operation. If Hralib was about to uncover it, Akiva would have had to kill him to save her own life.

Everyone knows that Udettos tried to kill Hralib during the invasion of Anarinuell, and that Hralib killed him, choking him to death with his golden wedding necklace. Aylina, his wife, has been nothing but distraught over it.

When Savanna was making armor for Hralib, he decided, on a whim, that it should be ornamented with a token of the last Firan who tried to kill him. He gave Savanna Udettos's and Aylina's wedding necklaces to melt down for the armor. Savanna knows that Hashi Vettle's slave Aylina got bitterly angry every time she saw Hralib wearing his armor.

Savanna knows Hralib was not found wearing the armor she made him, and that it's missing from his belongings. Could Aylina have taken it back to reclaim her wedding necklace?

Savanna knows that while the slave overseer Dyanna didn't have any problem with Hralib, she thought that his slaves were getting above themselves, and acting haughty towards her. An example needed to be set, and getting them all executed would please Dyanna to no end.

During the Night of Obala's Pride, Savanna heard Dyanna commenting on how "perfect" the weather was, even though it was freezing cold. "Perfect" for what?

Savanna knows that the night Hralib was killed, Malentez received a messenger wearing a butterfly mask in the wee hours of the morning and then went out into the dark alone.

When Malentez returned to his tent in the wee hours of the morning, he was shivering and wet, so Savanna sent Inaya a message asking if there were any healing herbs she might have for a Shamibelian who caught cold from the elements.

Round Two Conceal

Savanna knows that Hralib was considering buying her and making her an armorer for the entire Shamibelian army. Savanna knows that Malentez was reluctant to sell her to Hralib because he was hoping she was pregnant with his daughter, and wanted to keep a daughter with him as a slave.

Prince Lucas has been personally meeting with Savanna in secret and personally encouraged her to let Hralib buy her, and make her into a state armoring slave, because he was sure she could work inferiorities into the metal and compromise their armor.

Prior to his death, Hralib routinely brought infertility potions and abortifacients for Savanna so that Malentez would be more willing to sell her to him. Savanna exchanged vials with him whenever he visited.

War Lord Forlanis Vettle believed that Throgana made faulty armor for him during last year's war season, and it almost got him killed on the battlefield. Actually, it was Savanna who weakened the metal and tried to get him killed.

Savanna knows that before his bouts in the ring, her younger brother Renik always ate a special "energy" flatbread which would make him fight like a master martial artist. He could have killed Hralib with his own two hands.

Savanna Round Three

Round Three Reveal

Zaridos once told Savanna that she'd be better off killing herself than allowing Hralib to buy her and turn her into an armorer for the whole Shamibelian army, because when he found a way to free the Firans, he would see that she was convicted of treason.

Savanna knows Throgana found out that Zaridos has been communicating with his sister Ania in the Free Firan Republic, and that he feared she would turn him in to Hralib. The best motive of all to kill her.

Savanna suspects her fellow slave Zaridos feels guilty that he may have lost Anarinuell to the Shamibelians and would be eager to get revenge and redeem himself by killing Hralib.

Round Three Conceal

Savanna is not having an affair with Prince Lucas. She has only been letting him convince her to commit treason against the Shamibelian Empire.

The only affair she's been having is with Osirus.
