Overview
SCULPTOR
Sculptors make a living creating statues and memorials. Often they are hired on commission by nobles to create statues honoring the noble, or someone in their family or heritage. They can make use of both marble, and wood, for their creations.
Equipment
- mason's tools
- sculptor's tools
- wood, granite, or marble
- gems or metals to ornament some sculptures
Attributes and Skills
ATTRIBUTE: COORDINATION
You'll want to be good at making sure you can carve -- and that means being naturally coordinated. After all, if you're clumsy, you might wind up chiseling your hand! Ouch!
SKILL: SCUPLTING
This skill enables one to carve something into or out of rock, wood, or other substances in such a way as to portray something.
In game terms, Sculpting lets you make sculptures and pillars.
Game commands
(See 'help customizing' 'help name' and 'help make' on the game to see how to rename and describe customizable items.)
COMMAND: make
Syntax: make <product>
This can be used by artisans and craftspersons to create objects that they can sell. To find out which products can be made, see 'help @products'.
If you've assembled the correct ingredients and tools in the correct place, once you type 'make' the specified <product> will be automatically created with a quality commensurate with your skill and success level. You will need energy and the appropriate skill to make an item.
To know what you can make, take a peek at @products/sculpting
When you have decided which you want to make, you can check with @products <name of product> to see which materials will be required.
COMMAND: name
Syntax: name <object>=<name>
This command can be used by players to rename customizable items that they have created. You cannot use this command on items that are already 'finished', nor can you use the command on items that you did not create.
COMMAND: describe
Syntax: describe <object>
This command can be used by players to describe customizable items that they have created. You cannot use this command on items that are already 'finished', nor can you use the command on items that you did not create.
The code will prompt you for a description. You can rewrite this until you are satisfied with the description and finish it with the 'finish' command. You can "reverse-engineer" a description using the 'study' command.
Suggested Roleplay Ideas
- Roleplaying finding commissions with noble homes for different statues or fountains.
- Roleplaying making toys for children such as with your small or tiny wooden sculptors.
- Begin a sculpture publicly and craft it over the course of a RL month or so, RPing out with people what is happening.
- Make little carvings of people you spot in the market place and try to track them down to give them the finished product!
- Offer to sculpt a beggar or someone otherwise unable to pay.
