Scurrilous Rumor Party
From FiranMUX
Anarinuell: Cockatrice District -- The Lost Ferry Inn -- Public Bar
(Lots of Gold Dragon Bashing, and anti-Dwagon songs being sung, then Tia and crew arrive. Full log sent to firan-logs, titled Katja: Scurrilous Rumor Party, but the tense part put here for quick reference. The log is long.)
From somewhere nearby, you hear a dog bark! "YAP YAP YAP!" From somewhere nearby, you hear a dog bark! "YAP YAP YAP!"
Zinara drinks 1 wolfsbend whiskey.
Zinara dances the Cockatrice Caper, merrily displaying her clan spirit with enthusiasm and gusto!
Adan glances over towards Pietee and her -- tarts -- for a moment. But he looks back to Anorna. "You sing it well," he agrees. "Oh. Yes. Mes. Hello," he nods to Zinara. *Firan*
Tia steps into the bar. Tia has arrived. Tia is followed by Princess Sparklepoof, the toy spaniel and Prince Sparklepuff, the toy spaniel. Princess Sparklepoof, the toy spaniel has arrived. Prince Sparklepuff, the toy spaniel has arrived. Tia enters followed by 15 Gold dragon clan guards.
"See?" Bashar says, gesturing at Anorna for Adan's benefit. "Adil wrote it. The lyrics. Mes Decoria did the song. 'S funny." Then he winces at the squealing and frowns at the door.
Adil takes a tart, still having a hard time pulling his gaze from the spectacle of that cleavage. He manages, though, with difficulty, giving a puppydog smile up at Pietee.
Tia bounds into the inn with dogs and squeals! She claps her hands and bounces. "A party!?" she asks, quite ever oh so very excited. "A party! How thrilling!" *Firan*
Katja hears squealing and turns to look toward the door, and then turns to reach for some whiskey as she bellows, "Again!" And sings... *Firan*
Katja sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Song Profile: Dinky Dwagons
Dinky Dwagons is a toe-tapping, raucous song, well suited to noisy bars and tipsy crowds:
Took a city, stole a city, took another, Tried to take a woman, but so stupid that they got her brother Beat a cripple, beat a baby, eight-on-one Bullies beat the helpless, but Olympic-time can't beat a drum
Seized the moment, seized a city, loaded wagons Mighty dragons, braggy, cannot read-or-writey dragons Don't know laws, and don't know facts, and don't know class Need a guide, a lamp, two hands to tell their faces from their ass
(But so might I...)
Hurt their feelings, hurt their pride, and called them poor? They built the room themselves, unlocked it: we just pushed the door Dinky dwagons, little lizards, baby boys Cross them? They'll run crying home and taking with them alllll their toys
Yosun steps into the bar. Yosun has arrived.
Adil stares at Tia in blank disbelief for a moment, then looks at his whiskey glass, then Bashar. "Uh, d'you, uh, see that too?" he asks, faintly incredulous. *Firan*
Tia sits down somewhere - wherever - and the dogs climb into Tia's lap. Which evidently is also home to a bunny. Some servant gets the bunny.
Yosun makes his way in several paces behind Tia, a scowl planted across his lips as his cane raps forcefully upon the floor. The elderly Gold Dragon gazes out across the party with a critical eye, his frown only seeming to deepen as he scans the scene. "Well, I suppose there's nothing wrong with a little good-natured ribbing!" Yosun exclaims to no one in particular, balancing himself upon his cane. *Firan*
Anorna blushes a little bit when everyone says she sings well and looks down into her lap. "Thank you. Am not very good. Just little good." She whispers something to Adan, which sounds like a mush of words, and then reaches back to pry her hair out of Corjavi's hands. When everyone starts to sing again, Anorna claps and sings again as well. She's so oblivious sometimes. "Maybe if Hydrans sing more, they be happier!" She suggests to no one in particular.
Anorna tries to sing the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' but the rhythm proves too much for her, and she loses track of the words.
Zinara pays someone to deliver a message.
Pietee motions to a cheerful bowyer and they engage in brief conversation.
Decoria stares for a moment. Just /stares/. And then blinks once, as though to clear her vision. "...Huh." *Firan*
A courier takes Zinara's message and runs off.
Pietee looks vaguely baffled as Tia bounces in. "Does she -really- not know...?" she wonders to the little knot of people around her. But then Katja sings. And Yosun speaks. And Pietee speaks up with a "Well said, Lord Yosun!" *Firan*
Bashar looks around at Tia, his glass of whiskey halfway to his lips, then lowers it. "Yeah," he confirms to Adil, suddenly feeling rather more sober. "I see." He rubs at his chin for a moment, then shrugs. "This is our district," he notes to the cook. "They ain't stoppin' /me/ from enjoyin' a party." He does not, however, immediately join Katja. Just has another drink. *Firan*
Adan turns his head and frowns at Anorna. He seems, well, if not angry, then perhaps a bit confused with an edge to it.
"What do see?" Anorna asks as she looks around to see this thing too. All she sees are doggies, which she wiggles her fingers at. Doggies!
Tia pays someone to deliver a message.
Adil blinks at Bashar, then turns to stare again at the Gold Dragons. Then he sucks down a glass of ale. And sings again.
Adil tries to sing the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' but the rhythm proves too much for him, and he loses track of the words.
Amadea looks at her menu.
A courier takes Tia's message and runs off.
Puritee murmurs something to Decoria, after tugging on the woman's arm.
Messenger for Tia approaches Tia and makes a delivery. Messenger for Tia has left.
Yosun shoots his eyes over towards Pietee, a brief smile finding its way onto his lips but quickly fading. The elderly Gold Dragon then begins to navigate over towards where the drinks are kept, his cane rapping its way upon the ground the whole way. Passing by where Tia is seated, the elderly man offers a kind half-bow. "Lady Firgalik, always an enchantment at any social event!" *Firan*
Zalman has arrived.
Another voice is enough encouragement for Bashar. He joins in, though his voice is a little unsteady with the alcohol he has consumed.
Bashar sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
<OOC: ROLL> Pietee rolls her Courage at difficulty 7 and gets 1 fumble.
Zinara hums a bit to herself as then waves over a messenger, to send one off somewhere, a smile upon her lips. She nods to him and snags a drink. When Zalman arrives, she waves over and makes her way to him. "Daddy! There's this wonderful song--" And Bashar begins to sing it, so she flicks her hand his way. *Firan*
Decoria clamps one hand against her mouth to keep from dissolving into giggles at the whisper. "Two," she replies, expression thoughtful. *Firan*
Anorna continues to whisper to Adan and then leans forward some in discomfort. She looks slightly pained for a half of second and squeezes Adan's arm until it goes away. Corjavi lets go of Anorna's hair, which falls over her shoulder in wild curls as she leans forward. ""aybe should sing ------" *Firan*
Anorna sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Messenger for Tia approaches Tia and makes a delivery. Messenger for Tia has left. Tia pays someone to deliver a message.
Puritee gets a fried cake and takes a bit of it before finishing it. "Maybe three if it's fattened up." she decides. *Firan*
Decoria, hearing another chorus go up, raises her own voice to join in.
Katja climbs up onto a stool and then onto the bar to continue her dance. Let the Gold Dragons invade the Cockatrice tavern to bust up the party, Katja always was braver than smart. Of course, now she has to think of something smart to say, which may take a few seconds. And until then, she just shakes her booty on the bar while the others sing. "Hurt their feelings, hurt their pride, called them poor!" That does get some amplification from the Katja Maw of Mayhem. *Firan*
A courier takes Tia's message and runs off.
Decoria sings the rude and raucous 'Dinky Dwagons' with great enthusiasm and gusto. The song is infectious, and with a little tilt of her head and a wicked glint in her eyes, Decoria sings a version to delight the masses.
Pietee looks about to have an idea. In fact, she says as much, head lifted and a grin on her fine features. "I think someone should go teach Lord Yosun the lyrics!" But then, starting forward, she must necessarily pass the full and glittering sparkle of Tia and funks out. Decidedly. Back she scampers to her corner and sits, very, very quietly. *Firan*
Zalman listens and chuckles at the song. He smiles briefly as he does so. nods towards Zinara "interesting song..." he smiles briefly *Firan*
Cortik has arrived. Cortik enters followed by 9 Gold dragon clan guards.
Puritee tries to sing the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' but the rhythm proves too much for her, and she loses track of the words.
Tia motions for Yosun to come near to her.
Puritee doesn't know how to sing! Oh no! But, she makes a lilting mess of the song.
Adil grins up at Katja, delighted, then bellows, stridently and (it must be said) drunkenly. "SARKARAN IS OURS." *Firan*
"What a dreadful song! I would never learn such lyrics - and besides, I am too old to learn new things!" Yosun exclaims with a slight touch of humor, spotting Tia's beckoning and beginning to make his way over with raps of his ornamented cane upon the floor. "Ah!"
Adil shouts, "SARKARAN IS OURS!"
Dalinuel enters 'Fly on the Wall' mode. With these Gold Dragons showing up and all these Cockatrice, an undeersized Bear could find himself squashed.
Tia pays someone to deliver a message. A courier takes Tia's message and runs off.
Adan makes his way forward towards Lady Tia. "So good of you to come, Lady Firgalik. Come to celebrate with us, I suppose, the realization that Sarakan rightfully belongs to the Cockatrice?" *Firan*
Cortik comes in with a swagger and immediately spots Lady Firgalik and Lord Yosun. He approaches them and gives a smile to the others as he comments loudly, "Sarkaran is NOT and are quite relieved on that fact!" *Firan*
Messenger for Adan approaches Adan and makes a delivery. Messenger for Adan has left.
Zinara sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Rally has arrived.
Katja shouts, "Gods bless the existence of treaties and that Sarkaran will return to the rightful clan! ALL THE WRONGFULLY ABSORBED WILL BE RETURNED!"
Pietee seems to mutter to Decoria, ".. ...... start .. go we ...... .......... out ... .... and get .... .. ... ..... ..... as ... ...."
"Lord Adan," Tia says evenly, looking up at Sadin's bastard. "I think someone is calling you." She points elsewhere.
Zinara cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Bashar rises to his feet, pauses for a moment to be sure of his balance, then notes, "I'd love ta teach anyone the lyrics," he offers in the direction of the Gold Dragons and sings again, grinning at the many Gold Dragon guards filtering in. *Firan*
Bashar tries to sing the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' but the rhythm proves too much for him, and he loses track of the words.
Puritee cants her head towards Pietee's mutter, getting a few choice words. Her rosebud lips form a little pout, but she continues to have a few stolen sips of extra whiskey.
Adil cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Tia sits down at Large Table.
Zalman sings the rude and raucous 'Dinky Dwagons' with great enthusiasm and gusto. The song is infectious, and with a little tilt of his head and a wicked glint in his eyes, Zalman sings a version to delight the masses.
Amadea continues her silent observation of the party over the rim of her slowly draining glass of cider. From her lovely seat in the back, out of most of the danger of thrown furniture or punches that are sure to erupt quite soon.
A courier takes Katja's message and runs off. Message to Aeryk: >> I'm fixin to get into trouble.
Yosun rolls his eyes at one exchange or another, navigating his way back over towards the wine with nearly-violent raps of his cane upon the bar's floor. "Some of these partygoers have forgotten their manners, I see!" He observes to the crowd at large. *Firan*
Tarquin has arrived.
Tarquin is not a Cockatrice. He is, in fact, yet another Gold Dragon, though not a noble one. And he has on a really colorful pouch. Really. Colorful.
"Our party, our rules!" Adil hollers in response to Yosun's words. "You don't like the truth, hide in your own district! Sarkaran is COCKATRICE!"
Anorna remains seated and watches as everyone sings and drinks. When Adan moves way from her, she bites her lip and looks back to Bashar a little worriedly.
Tia squeals, "It's the birthday boy!"
Tia spots Tarquin and claps! And Squeals!
Katja isn't about to stop now. She looks at her fellow Cockatrice citizens and bellows, "It's time for my favorite game! You all want to play, right? Let's play name that clan! You all know how to play it, right? I yell out what clan is known for and you all shout out the name of the clan!" *Firan*
You hear that IC Messengers are trying to reach you.
Adil cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Cortik nods shortly to Yosun, "The Cockatrice are losing their manners almost as readily as they lose their cities. Sarkaran is GOLD DRAGON!" he yells back. *Firan*
"We have some wonderful songs for you to learn," comments Adan. "I am sure that anyone would be happy to teach you --" He thinks. "What is it? 'Dinky Dwagons'?"
Puritee cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Adil sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Puritee is all for games and she gives a racous cheer for Katja.
Zinara cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Tarquin looks a little overwhelmed by the number of people, Cockatrice people, in the room. He doesn't look exceedingly happy to be here. In fact, he plugs his fingers in his ears as he scurries over to where Tia, and quite possibly Cortik and Yosun, are.
Zalman cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Bashar gets tongue twisted and gestures towards Zalman. "Maybe y'should learn from him," he admits, his words pressing together a little. He moves over not far from the Gold Dragon crowd, but outside the mass of guards. "It's COCKATRICE, you ten year old simpleton!" he barks at Cortik. And that is, perhaps, a little personal. "It feckin' MEANS 'City of the feckin' COCKATRICE!'" *Firan*
Bashar shouts, "COCKATRICE ... COCKATRICE!"
Zinara cheers Bashar! Zalman cheers Bashar!
Yosun finds his way to a drink, tossing a few stenis to the barkeep as he takes a tankard of mead into his hand. The old man then makes his way back over to where Tia and Tarquin are located, ale in one hand and cane in the other. "Oh, everything is so loud!" *Firan*
Anorna reaches over and grabs Bashar by his arm when he starts to shout. He's closer to her. She tries to yank him down to whisper something to him.
Adil cheers Bashar!
Tia's guards start to get a little antsy. One whispers something to her and she lifts a brow at him, holding her hand up. One eye is on the woman, the pregnant woman, near the shouting man.
Cortik leans in and whispers to Tia
Zalman looks over "Someone need to learn a song a dance?" *Firan*
Tarquin reaches Tia's side, increasingly unhappy as he goes. He cautiously removes his fingers from his ears. "Lady Firgalik, may I please go home? It's too loud here, there's too many people." *Firan*
Pietee isn't laughing now. She's laughing even less as she spots Tarquin, child dragged into the midst of the crowd, and mutters something urgent to Decoria again.
Tia pays someone to deliver a message. A courier takes Tia's message and runs off.
Pietee mutters, "....... ..... brought a -child- in ..... .... ...... ... .......... ...... ... him as . right? ... .... ..... right?"
Aeryk has arrived. Aeryk enters followed by 2 Cockatrice clan guards.
Decoria considers, canting her head slightly. After a moment she opines, her tone even and pleasant, "They're right, we all are being rude. We should buy the Gold Dragons a round, for coming out to the revelry. It's only polite, ----- all." *Firan*
Katja stomps on the bar once, twice, three times and then bellows...
Katja shouts, "So enamored of their gold and platinum that they have to make charities to feed their people so that it doesn't cut into their Jewelry Fund?"
Bashar is not in the mood to be yanked by Anorna and, despite being a little tipsy, he is a lot bigger than the pregnant Cockatrice woman. He jerks his arm away from her hand, though Anorna distracts him for a moment. "What? I dunno," he answers, before looking around again at the Gold Dragons and singing again, belting out the words. His tone, as he sings, is definitely not so much a friendly ribbing tone as he sings it rather close to one of the guards. *Firan*
Adil shouts, "GOLD DRAGON!"
Katja shouts, "THE BUTCHERS OF SCIRLUT SAY WHAAAAT?"
Bashar sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Emma has arrived. Emma enters followed by 2 republic guards.
"I hear your name being called, Lady Firgalik. Perhaps back in the Gold Dragon District. But surely you can hold your own wonderful rival party, don't you think?" Adan smiles.
Tia has long since moved on. Adan speaks not to her -- she has both turned away and looked away.
Adil slams his cane on the ground as he bellows his answer. "Greedy bastards!" he tacks on. *Firan*
Cortik looks at Bashar and pushes past his guards, "Is that so, you oversized brute? Perhaps they have been teaching you Cockatrice Commoners the words Gold Dragon really mean Cockatrice simply to make you feel better about the sad state of your clan? Would you like some free reading lessons? I'm sure I can pay for a teacher for you." *Firan*
Anorna frowns at Bashar and kicks his shin boldly. Then, because he's not a help, she tries to stand up, fumbling a bit as he does. "Adan!"
Puritee frowns as a young child is brought into the racous party and even further when he asks to leave. She murmurs something else to Decoria.
Tarquin plugs his fingers back in his ears, and scrunches his eyes shut, not really enjoying the party too much. He's standing where Tia was standing before.
Katja shouts, "Let's all drink a round to the Gold Dragons! Envoys of terror, rape and destruction!"
Adil cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35. Adil cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35. Adil cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Cortik disses Katja! Cortik disses Katja!
Anorna shouts, "ADAN!"
Yosun casts a look of concern over towards Tarquin, clearing his throa and glancing somewhat disapprovingly between Tarquin and Tia. "Ahem." Yosun then ehars Katja's call, a large smirk spreading over his features before he drinks. "I, Yosun Manosik, am for at least two of those!" *Firan*
Yosun cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Anorna shouts for Adan over the noisy crowd. Jeeze. Service around here.
Aeryk has perhaps received a message and perhaps heard diluted rumors, but when he steps briskly into the bar, with his cloak flapping behind him and his guards trailing him at a near distance - he surely does not expect what he runs into. He stops near the door. And stares.
Anorna pays someone to deliver a message.
A courier takes Anorna's message and runs off.
Bashar sneers at Cortik, and stays where he is. "Go back home an' beat a woman. If ya FIND one without feckin' up and gettin' her BROTHER!" he shouts at the Lord Governor of Sarkaran. He is, however, possessed of just enough sense to keep his hands by his sides. *Firan*
Amadea blinks her eyes slowly and finishes the rest of her cider before placing the empty cup back down on her table, murmuring to herself under her breath. She doesn't look angry, or suprised for that matter. She does look somewhat disappointed.
Adil lets out a wordless roar of approval for Katja's words, then bellows in a (slightly) more literate response. "No law! No class! No brains! City-stealing bastards! Sarkaran is OURS!" *Firan*
<OOC: ROLL> Tia rolls her Perception at difficulty 8 and gets 1 success.
Amadea mutters, "....... .. ... damned .........."
Puritee hears Bashar's shout and frowns, moving a bit closer to Pietee and Decoria. She intends to move when they move.
Dalinuel looks around as he hears mes Amadea's voice and waves.
Emma barrels her way into the Lost Ferry Inn, looking rather... disheveled, let's say. Her face is red, her eyes are wild, and her hair is unevenly cut and in an extreme state of disarray - sans hairpins, even. Probably too short for hairpins. She stands near the entrance for a moment, then hustles her way into the fray.
Despite the noise and the overall craziness, Tia spots Anorna. Mostly because she was near Bashar, who is causing quite a stir! The former princess stands slowly and gestures for her guards to follow her to the woman. "Mes?" Tia shouts above the ..other shouting.
Zalman remains quiet for now and looks around as he does so. "Don't see this many show up at olympic events. *Firan*
"Mmm. Yes, Anorna?" Adan makes his way through the crowd, amused more than anything. "I am sure my Lady Sister is just shocked, shocked, that she is not being greeted with fanfare and mirrors here." He keeps his voice lower, just for Anorna.
Anorna looks up at Tia and Adan as they both approach her. She seems a little pained. Okay. A lot pained. "Baby is coming now." She says this as calmly as she can in a room filled of screaming and yelling people. "Now."
"I am not your sister," Tia replies simply to Adan. If he has managed to morph over to the other side of the room, Tia inclines her head to Anorna and says, "I imagine you have assistance."
Tarquin opens his eyes again, half-lidded. Yep. All those people are still there. It's loud, it's raucous, it's overwhelming, and everyone is quite a lot bigger than him. Since Tia has moved on, he turns to the next Gold Dragon he sees: Yosun. And he manages to bow, because that's just manners. "Excuse me, Lord Yosun, but I want to go home," he says, rather pathetically. *Firan*
You notice Zinara enter.
Katja swipes up a whiskey from the bar beside her feet, and rises, tossing it back. Oh yea, she's standing on the bar, shouting. When Adil looses a partial verse, she raises her empty glass, "When I was a child my mum told me tales, not of monsters under the bed, but in gilded buildings of stone. Don't look'm in the eye, Katja. They'll steal your soul soon as they'll steal your home and city. But I say we claim our namesake! TO THE COCKATRICE! LOOK THEM ALL IN THE EYE!" *Firan*
COMBAT: Emma gets into a position to attack Katja. Katja may attack also.
Amadea manages a faint wiggle of her fingers to Dalinuel, although her eyes remain on the complete mess that has become the party.
Anorna shouts, "BABY IS COMING NOW!"
Puritee motions to an ugly beekeeper and they engage in brief conversation.
Cortik smirks at Bashar and nods, "I'm sure that's a problem you've had numerous times, I thank you for your warning," then he turns away and returns to Tia's side. *Firan*
COMBAT: Katja tries to get away from Emma, but fails terribly, exhausting herself.
Puritee blinks a bit, "How come that Bear man is attacking that woman screaming?" she asks of Decoria. *Firan*
"Well, we ought to get you upstairs into a room," says Adan simply. "And then we can have a midwife or somesuch come." He tosses some coin to the bartender for a room for all of this.
Emma stomps on over to Katja, fists brandished! She doesn't seem to notice - or perhaps care - that someone is about to have a baby in the inn!
Emma aims and slams Katja with her fists. Katja takes a hit to the left thigh! Your Fur-trimmed Feline Leather Military Skirt with furry strips absorbs 10 points of damage (of 11). You get a tiny puncture in your left thigh. You take 1 point of damage.
<OOC: ROLL> Zalman rolls his Perception at difficulty 9 and gets NO successes.
Puritee mutters, "..... .... .... men .. ...... . .. .... .... confused now!"
"STOP!" Aeryk's voice blat high volume after Emma and he speed walks best as he can through the crowd. "If you start a /fight/ here, Lady Emma--" Too late.
Yosun glances over towards the brawl, making his way over as fast as an elderly man possibly can. "Ah! Stop that, in the name of the Republic!" *Firan*
Katja sees a woman coming at her. "My lady, this is not your district. Are you here to conquer me or steal my soul?" She doesn't get away, but then Emma hits her and she gets a tiny little... nick on her thigh and Katja head-tilts at her. *Firan*
COMBAT: SUCCESS (2 successes) for disengagement COMBAT: Katja gets away from Emma.
Zalman apparently didn't hear about the baby either... else he'd at least offerto go get another midwife...
"I..." Decoria turns to watch, shaking her head slightly. "I have /no/ idea," she replies to Puritee.
Anorna shouts now because, well, women in labor shout. Corjavi doesn't like the shouting, and Anorna doesn't like the fighting. She reaches forward to try to hold on to someone. Tia. Adan. She doesn't know. She just needs to get up and out of here. "OW!"
Anorna shouts, "OWWWW!"
Dalinuel doesn't bloody know anything about babies before they are born, only after. "Mes Anorna, mes Anorna...who is your midwife? Should I get her for you?" *Firan*
Tia's guards are about to crap bricks. They lean into her and whisper again as a very small fisticuff breaks out. Tia waves them off and offers a hand to Anorna. "Come with me," she says kindly. *Firan*
Adan and Ornala, the Barkeeper discuss the possibility of renting a room but Adan turns Ornala, the Barkeeper down.
Katja shouts, "It's alright, Lord Aeryk. I expected retribution. But I'm being good, see? I won't hit her back. Even if she does steal my soul."
Tarquin goes to sit under a table, somewhere in the corner on the room, literally on the floor of the room. He managed to filch a tart sometime along the way, though. With a chair to barricade himself in, he huddles up.
Tarquin eats 1 cherry tarts.
Puritee frowns and shakes her head, tsking and looking towards Adan and Anorna.
Adan pays Ornala, the Barkeeper 1000 steni(s).
Bashar sneers at Cortik's back and starts to sing the Dinky Dwagon song again, including the line about finding a brother instead of a woman. He is distracted, however, by the Gold Dragon noblewoman taking a swing at Katja and turns, glowering, and starts to head over, which does not look prone to improve the situation.
As Emma moves in on Katja, Adil pushes, stumbling, to his feet. "Can't shut us up that easily!" he calls, then raises his voice more.
Adil shouts, "The truth will not be silenced!"
<OOC: ROLL> Cortik rolls his Perception at difficulty 9 and gets 1 fumble.
"Mes NEOMA!" Anorna half whispers and half screams. And then she goes back to whispering. "Yes. A room is good." She reaches out to hold onto Tia'a hand and then grabs onto Adan a little less gracefully so she can stand.
Man in rings mask steps into the bar. Man in rings mask has arrived.
Amadea rols her eyes skyward and mutters a faint prayer for the souls of all those involved in this complete and utter mess. She does, however, get to her feet and start in the general direction of Anorna.
"I have a room for her upstairs," says Adan, turning from the bartender. "The green room, you see. It is just upstairs." He shrugs.
"Girls, with me," Pietee murmurs to Decoria and Puritee. "Let's get ready to move out, and if Lady Tia doesn't get her ward out of here, let's take him with us if he'll come and drop him off at the orphanage." There's a pause, and a grumpy mutter of "Three whores shouldn't be the ones having to think of that!"
Cortik doesn't have eyes for anything going on except that really cool fight. Haha, Former-GD women beating up Cockatrice women. It's awesome.
Tia gestures for her guards to push through people and up the stairs. "Send for Mes Neoma, then," she tells a servant. *Firan*
Tia pays someone to deliver a message.
Dalinuel slips out to find a messenger and send him to mes Neoma.
A courier takes Tia's message and runs off.
Tia starts following Anorna.
Adil waves his cane in the air as he yells. It's not terribly threatening, really.
Puritee starts following Pietee.
You switch to the 'defensive' style.
Pietee disses Tia because 'Three whores shouldn't be the ones left trying to get Lady Tia's ward out of a near riot.'!
Emma aims for the woman's gut, but connects with her thigh prematurely. "Feck /you/!" she screams like a madwoman, and inexplicably, her eyes erupt into fountain of tears. "Feck /all/ of you!" Now she's just screeching, and she looks like she's about to collapse. Or implode. Something is definitely not right. *Firan*
"Looks like they don't care about their kids either." Puritee murmurs sadly, looking towards Tarquin.
The mild effects of the alcohol seem to be wearing off.
Man in rings mask come in with the hood of his byrrus over his head so he is all pretty much in white. He looks around the room from his mask as all the action goes on.
Anorna takes Adan along with her too! Mauahaha. Anorna steps into the entrance hall. Anorna has left. Tia follows Anorna. Tia has left.
Tarquin would leave if he had noticed that Tia was leaving. Since he's holed up under the table, he just nibbles on his tart, having found a small refuge in the chaos.
Puritee drinks 1 wolfsbend whiskey.
"Lady /Emma/." Aeryk continues through the crowd in full stubbornness and is, quite, beginning to get close to the lady's back. "Please calm down. Please calm down, m'Lady."
Zinara is over by her father, talking with him until... Emma catches her eye. And then Anorna's yelling. She curtseys to the former, quieting down a bit and sipping a drink. She moves over to Anorna and furrows her brow, but it seems to be taken care of. "Lady Emma! How good to see you! Do you need a drink...?" Look at her hospitality now! *Firan*
Katja shoves a glass of whiskey at Emma, "Looks like you need this more than anyone, Lady." She gives Bashar and Adil a baffled look and whispers to them. *Firan*
You mutter to Bashar, "I think she's crying because she don't hit good." You mutter to Adil, "I think she's crying because she don't hit good."
Decoria touches her sisters lightly on the shoulders, expression grim. "Wait here," she says quietly. And then proceeds to try to make her way through the crowd towards Tarquin. /Try/ be the operative word. *Firan*
Puritee ponders, "Oh! Maybe she is upse cause her hair looks bad?" she offers helpefully. *Firan*
Yosun seems a bit overwhelmed by everything that's gone on in the pub, taking a moment to collect himself and steady his balance with the help of his cane. He then navigates over towards the bar, taking another tankard of mead into hand.
Yosun drinks 1 mead.
<OOC: ROLL> Cortik rolls his Attention at difficulty 8 and gets NO successes.
Katja sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Zalman blinks at the language he hears from a noble and yet says nothing. He does watch Zinara carefully, just in case it gets even more crazy....
Nisa steps into the bar. Nisa has arrived.
Cortik eyes Pietee and shakes his head, "How dare you Diss Lady Firgalik? Who do you think you are? Dishonorable and disgusting!" *Firan*
Man in rings mask competently sings Cost of A Soldier, adequately keeping the complex timing of the chorus so its not muddled and hard to comprehend.
Bashar comes looming up over Emma, by her two Republic guards. He does not immediately move to swing at her. "Lady, if you swing at /her/," he gestures to Katja, "in /this/ bar, you must be outta your /head!/" He gives a glower at her guards, as if to ask them why they aren't preventing Emma from attacking, then just glowers at Emma. *Firan*
<OOC> Pietee says, "Er, Cortik? Pietee muttered that. I just dissed because it seemed cheap not to."
Emma falls to her knees, fists still balled up until her knuckles are white. She swings around wildly at anyone who dares to get close to her, but gods know the punches are completely ineffective.
Song Profile: Cost of a soldier
A protest song for the Thin Dragons of the world:
Tell me, do you know Just how much it costs To armor a Gold Dragon soldier?
How much does it cost, to send him fighting from his home?
It costs about 146 cheese pies or 104 lamb stew or 847 meat stew or 175 barley soup
Tell me, do you know Just how much it costs To arm a Gold Dragon soldier?
How much does it cost, to send him fighting from his home?
It can cost about 217 meads or 71 yarrow teas or 135 mint tea or 39 apple ciders
Tell me, do you know just how much it costs to feed a person?
How much does it cost to keep your loved ones fed while at home?
It costs love and toil and sweat and tears and the passion to make things right
Here And now before its too late at all
Katja cheers Man in rings mask! 35 social points have been transferred from you to Man in rings mask.
Tarquin finishes off his tart and puts his fingers back in his ears again, plugging them so the chaos isn't so loud. He's not hard to find. Perhaps he's hard to reach. In any event, as Decoria moves closer, and toward his table, he peeks out from underneath. His ears are still plugged with his fingers, though. All of this, and he's already injured, too.
Adil laughs at whatever Katja mutters, raucously amused. "Get her an ale," he says. "Drinks for everyone!" he yells. "Drink to the soul of Sarkaran, smothered these past years! Drink to Cockatrice Pride!" *Firan*
Amadea rolls her eyes again. She got up for nothing, it seems, since the pregnant woman is whisked off before she can even offer her services. "Does someone need a healer? Anyone? If not I'm going to sit down with some whiskey." she attempts to state loud enough for anyone to hear, but her whispery voice is probably lost in the growing din. *Firan*
Adil tries to sing the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' but the rhythm proves too much for him, and he loses track of the words.
<OOC> Puritee is seriously doubting folks hear a mutter in here.
Adil cheers Man in rings mask!
Man in rings mask answers Katja's song with his own as he stands at the door.
Katja cheers the latest songbird. "I think that woman with the baby might have got conquered by Lady Firgalik. Might oughta see if you can find her, mes." She says to Amadea and then sends someone over with a drink for the singing fellow. "Again!" *Firan*
Aeryk does not get right up against Emma, but he does crouch close to her, dropping his volume a little bit to as conversational as it can be in the crowd. "Lady Emma. I do not think this is where you should be at this moment. Let us but go somewhere else and we can talk." *Firan*
<OOC> Cortik says, "Yeah. Well. Pretend I just gave you a REAL DIRTY LOOK"
<OOC: ROLL> Emma rolls her Sanity at difficulty 9 and gets 2 successes.
Puritee nods to Katja, most solemnly. "I do hope she gets to keep her baby." she notes. *Firan*
<OOC> Pietee says, "That works!"
Marsalos has arrived. Marsalos enters followed by 4 Eagle clan guards.
<OOC: ROLL> Cortik rolls his Perception at difficulty 9 and gets NO successes.
Man in rings mask goes to fetch something from his backpack and feels around. "Well damn... I forgot something. I'll guess I can only sing the song, and am willing to teach it to anyone who wants to learn it." *Firan*
Puritee continues to whisper and mutter to her sisters, ducking down to stay close to them.
Yosun gazes over towards Emma with a look of concern crossing his elderly face, a frown soon to follow. "I, I am afraid, am simply too old for this sort of affair!" Yosun exclaims to not a soul in particular. *Firan*
Messenger for Tarquin approaches Tarquin and makes a delivery. Messenger for Tarquin has left.
Cortik doesn't seem to notice Tarquin under the table, and he's had enough of the Cockatrice for now. Besides, pressing news has arrived and so he must depart. With a push forward, his nine guards push outward of the crowd, parting it as he leaves.
Zinara curtseys to Aeryk as well as Emma, standing a bit away. Goodness knows she's not strong in the least. "Lady Emma? It's Zinara..." She waves Bashar away a little. "Could I get you something...?" *Firan*
<OOC> Cortik shoofs out, thanks crazies. :)
Man in rings mask flows through the words of Cost Of A Soldier with ease, negotiating masterfully the slight changes in timing and remembering the figures as if he were an astute economist.
Cortik steps into the entrance hall. Cortik has left.
Pietee has a mini-Honoria standing with her in one corner, as a Decoria attempts to make it to another corner to charm a forgotten child out of hiding. She offers Puritee a bracing little shoulder squeeze and a murmur of "We'll slip out soon, we just need to make sure little Tarquin is all right." *Firan*
Amadea might be a healer, but she's not insane. She's going nowhere near Tia, woman in labor or not. "I'll let the midwife handle that, I think." she murmurs to Katja, keeping an eye on Emma and Aeryk, just in case there is something that she can do of use there. *Firan*
Bashar looms by Emma for another moment, then glowers at Emma's guards again."Ain't you s'pposed to keep her out of trouble?" he asks somethat indignantly. "Then you best get her the feck outta here 'fore she gets herself in real trouble!" He gives the man a little shove on the shoulder towards Emma, which is clearly not an aggressive move, but is emphatic, before he turns to get back to the bar and runs across Zinara, coming to an abrupt halt. "Huh? Nah, I'm gettin' a drink." He does and raises a glass to Katja and Adil. "TO SARKARAN, CITY OF COCKATRICE!" *Firan*
Bashar drinks 1 wolfsbend whiskey.
"Excuse me. --/Excuse me/." Decoria repeats it more than twice as she moves through the crowd, finally stopping by Tarquin's table. She kneels down, offering a hand to the boy. "Here, this isn't any place for you. Let's get you out of here."
Bashar shouts, "TO SARKARAN, CITY OF COCKATRICE!"
Zalman flows through the words of Cost Of A Soldier with ease, negotiating masterfully the slight changes in timing and remembering the figures as if he were an astute economist.
Adan steps into the bar. Adan has arrived. Adan enters followed by 5 Cockatrice clan guards.
<OOC: ROLL> Yosun rolls his Perception at difficulty 9 and gets 1 fumble.
"When your presence can't break their spirit, it's time to throw fists! A lesson from the Gold Dragons to the rest of Aerval!" Katja isn't stopping. They Dragons are still in the Cockatrice tavern. "TO SARKARAN! CITY OF COCKATRICE! LONG TARNISHED BY GOLD DRAGON OPPRESSION!"
Adil drinks, then lifts his half-empty whiskey glass and yells out again, "To another Olympic Victory!" *Firan*
Katja cheers Bashar! 35 social points have been transferred from you to Bashar.
Katja competently sings Cost of A Soldier, adequately keeping the complex timing of the chorus so its not muddled and hard to comprehend.
Adil cheers Bashar! Adil cheers Katja! SOCIAL: Your social point account was just adjusted by 35.
Yosun continues his drink, his eyes roaming the crowd and the old man looking increasingly out of place.
"Another Olympic Victory!" Bashar seconds Adil, waving his empty glass around in the air again.
Tarquin also had just received a message from a messenger boy, a Cockatrice by the looks of him, and fairly drunk at that. He unplugs his fingers to year it, and hears Decoria as well, accordingly. "Hello, mes," he says, as he crawls out from underneath the table. Still loud? Yes, still loud. Still crowded? Yep, it's still crowded too. He sucks in a little breath. "Lady Firgalik told me to go home now," he says, with much relief, and takes the woman hand as offered. *Firan*
Tarquin starts following Decoria.
Man in rings mask sings the rude and raucous 'Dinky Dwagons' with great enthusiasm and gusto. The song is infectious, and with a little tilt of his head and a wicked glint in his eyes, Man in rings mask sings a version to delight the masses.
Puritee just continues to cling to her big sister, making sure she'll leave when they do.
So it finally dawns on Emma where she is, and what she's doing in this particular location. She regards Aeryk with a stony stare, her lips drawn in a tense little line. From Aeryk, she looks up at Zinara, then stands shakily, brushing her tunic off. "No. No, I don't need anything from /you/. Either... of you." She reaches up to run a hand through her wild, short hair, just as the guard who was shoved by Bashar comes plodding over. "M'Lady. Let's just get back. The.. the woman told you to take it easy for a few days, remember?"
Man in rings mask sings the song that Katja first sings, grabs a drink, and toasts her.
Susia has arrived.
Decoria rises, expression fixed as she shoots a glance back towards Pietee and Puritee. "Here, stay close," she tells Tarquin, waiting for confirmation that she's been heard over the din before she moves them off to rejoin her sisters. *Firan*
Susia wonders in and looks arounda at all the people here. She makes her way to the bar to have a seat.
Susia sits down at Bar.
"Lady Emma. I appreciate your passionate defense of your family." Aeryk thus stands up with his crowd dirtied armor and so forth. "But your guard is correct. Now is not the place or time. Let us spar at some point, rather. But not here."
Katja jumps down from the bar and grabs some meat and spinach to down it. Endof the Hunger Strike! She needs energy for singing these AWESOME SONGS! "Shall we take it to the streets, my friends? A prayer to the gods, Gods, let them stop occupying our city! Turn their hearts, gods, or at least turn their ankles so they will be easier to defeat!" *Firan*
Marsalos is neither Gold Dragon nor Cockatrice. Just nosy. He walks in just in time to spot the GD boy being dragged off by two whores and arches both brows. The things you never think you'll see.
Adan makes his way down from upstairs, brushing off his hands. Well, that is settled. At least that much so far.
Tarquin sticks close to Decoria, letting her plow a path through the crowds. They seem to be just raucous now, and drunk, and spreading scurrilous rumors, but not particularly violent.
"Turn their hearts!" Adil bellows in response. He seems to have taken on the role of Greek chorus for the moment.
A barmaid brings Susia her ale.
Ornala, the Barkeeper happily collects Susia's 33 stenis.
Pietee looks briefly towards Yosun, eyes narrowed, but apparently comes to the conclusion that old men are better equipped than small boys to handle themselves. "Come on," she assures Puritee. "Decoria's got him now, let's just scootch along the wall and join up with her, and then we'll head home and get some tea." *Firan*
Susia orders an ale then turns her back to the bar so she can lean on it and listen to all that is being said.
Zinara dips into another quick curtsey and lets Aeryk handle Emma. She was told no, so she isn't about to press it! Then again, it's Aeryk, so who knows how it'll work? She lingers nearby.
Amadea sees no lasting damage done, and no one raises their hand for assistance, so she takes that as her cue to leave before the vomiting starts. "I need to go pray." she mutters to herself, shaking her head in wonder at the crazy that seems to be breeding. *Firan*
Bashar snickers at Katja as he settles himself upon a stool again, no longer prowling the inn as an angry purple ball of angry Cockatrice nationalism. "Turn their ankles!" he takes up after Adil. *Firan*
Katja cackles at Adil, "Why not both! Their hearts AND their ankles! And we shall know them by their limping." She has a little nick on her thigh from where Emma hit her, but it's not terrible. "ANOTHER ROUND! TO SARKARAN!" She throws back another whiskey and then sighs, "We really need something to burn in effigy..." *Firan*
Nisa has left.
"To Sarkaran!" Adil bellows back. "Invaded by the sister-taking, uh..." He loses his thread, and attempts to transition again into song.
Pietee spies a forgotten whiskey glass on a side table as she scootches. Proper Eagle that she is, there is no whiskey left once she's scootched past. There are times when one needs a drink.
Adil tries to sing the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' but the rhythm proves too much for him, and he loses track of the words.
Bashar sings the song 'Dinky Dwagons,' a mocking song calling the Gold Dragons greedy, bullying, inept, and childish. Its rolling beat and quick words are infectious.
Puritee continues to move follow Pietee, here and there.
Tarquin says to Decoria, over the din on the crowd, "I'd like to go home now, I think." *Firan*
Adan is here in the main bar again, looking over the various people. Hmm. Hmmm. Who to mingle with.
Emma pushes her guard's hand away as it comes to rest on her shoulder, but her resolve seems to be cracking. "Spar," she repeats to Aeryk through her teeth, considering the word for longer than is appropriate. "Yes," she continues after a pause, eyes clouding over. "Spar." Well, that's cryptic. Her guard clears his throat, and she turns to face him. "Fine. Take me back to the estate." *Firan*
Dalinuel gets back to his kiddies. Dalinuel steps into the entrance hall. Dalinuel has left.
Yosun glances down to the floor with a scowl, his cane whapping against the floor as he heads towards the exit. "The hour is late, when old men must rest!" Yosun exclaims as he makes his exit. *Firan*
Yosun has left.
Susia spots Adan looking around the room. She winks at him and raises her mug then pats the seat next to her.
Decoria does not so much plow as wind, being as she is a fair bit smaller than most of the revellers. Rioters? Revellers. Whatever. Once she reaches her target, she cranes her head back to call to Katja, "Just wait 'til we've got the Dragons' children out of the building before you set something on fire, please!" And then nods to Pietee to lead the way out the door. It is like a /train/ of Honorias, plus one child. *Firan*
Man in rings mask sees the Ho Train and ponders climbing aboard, once the kid is left at the station.
Katja flashes a full-throttle grin at Decoria and shrugs, "I ain't got nothin' to burn, ma'am. Just a BURNING SENSE OF RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION!" *Firan*
Puritee sneaks in between Pietee and Decoria, ducking down a bit. Violet eyes flash over the scene once more before she leaves.
Tarquin draws in a deeper breath, once the exit is finally in sight. At last! He can go /home/!
Marsalos steps into the entrance hall. Marsalos has left.
Whatever Emma's cryptic repetitions may entail or may mean, Aeryk's expression remains on the calm side of neutral. He says no more as she turns to her guard.
Bashar sings with gusto and with passable rhythm, if without a beautiful voice. "To our own black feckin' flinty jewel! We drove their nobles out of our bar, now we just got get 'em out of our feckin' city!" he adds after Katja. In a lower voice, he notes, "I can't feckin' /believe/ Cortik would show his face here." *Firan*
Adil does not sing the song elegantly, but when Bashar does a much better job, he gloms onto the soldier's rendition, hopping in for the phrases he can and roaring into the bridge with a long, "But Soooooooo Miiiiiiiiiiiiight IIIIIIIIII!" He belches. *Firan*
Pietee has got quite a caboose, we must admit. She, however, forms the engine tonight. "Come on, come along, tea when we all get back!" And chug-chug-chug (Or is that the drinkers?) they leave. *Firan*
Emma is led out by her guards. She's the Crazy Caboose at the end of the Honoria Train.
"Governor of Sarkaran my rosy red ass! Since when does governor mean prison warden?" Katja asks, slugging Bashar in the arm good naturedly.
Emma steps into the entrance hall. Emma has left.
Man in rings mask finds a place to sit and watch the ensuing fun. He drums his fingers on his leg making the leather thrum a bit.
Aeryk turns his head aside, takes a deeeep breath, and massages the bridge of his nose. Okay.
Zinara looks relieved as Emma makes her exit, no worse for wear, and offers Aeryk a "Thank you." The concern in her eyes is evident, but she looks back to the party consideringly. *Firan*
Messenger for Katja approaches Katja and makes a delivery.
The messenger whispers to you, "Lord Centurion Aeryk IstaNydiam said to tell you, at Firan time: 01:35:16 AM on Mon Mar 30, in the year 42 A.U.: Mes Katja. This is not the time. I cannot stress that enough."
Messenger for Katja has left.
Adan gives a flash of a smile to Susia and a wink. He makes his way along, taking a glass of whiskey for him.
Adan drinks 1 wolfsbend whiskey.
"Tea?" Decoris replies to Pietee, a touch tightly as they vanish out the door. "I don't know about you, but I'm having /whiskey/."
The shouting is dying down a bit, so Adil half-falls back into his seat, cheerful and drunk. "Anyone want a cake?" he asks, grabbing meat for himself.
Adil eats 1 spinach and meat.
Bashar's arm soaks up the slugging and he grins back at Katja. "Yeah. A'course...I s'pose I could be wrong. It coulda been his ASS he showed here, and I WOULDN'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE, WOULD I?" He finds this far funnier than the joke deserves, until he is distracted. "Ooooh, cake." *Firan*
Bashar eats 1 syrup soaked fried cakes.
Susia hops off her seat and pads over to the man in the mask. She looks at the chair next to him. "That seat be taken?" *Firan*
Katja has a message! She hears it and then turns to look around, "IS LORD AERYK STILL HERE!?" She bellows and then shoots him a thumbs up. "We run'm off, my lord! I didn't even hit'm when the one charged me!" *Firan*
(breaking here since it seems like a good place as the tensions are gone and people are trickling off now)
