SERISS ISTABELIK

Seriss was once known as Seriss Istabelik, adopted son of Clan Leader Belik and Lady Senika of the Hydra Clan. He was raised alongside the other Istabelik children and was considered one of the up and coming young men of the Clan. He was a full Warrior under the Hydran Warrior Code, having married Mes Aleria Rianavalu and had a son with her, though the child tragically died as an infant. He was also looked up to by both young men and young women of the Hydran clan, acting as a role model to the former and a protector to the latter. Seriss was also the head of Clan Leader Amenik's personal guard, as well as serving the Republic as a member of the First Division, seeking to offer the same protectiveness and justice to the Republic as a whole as he offered to the Hydra clan, holding the rank of Centurion in both. It was fully expected that he would one day hold a Sharanirship.

Unfortunately, all of that was lost when, during the Blood Dragon uprising in 36 A.U., Seriss shocked his adopted family and clan by fleeing the city to go to Scirlut against direct orders from both Clan Leader Amenik, and Lady Senika. Though he went to the city, and even eventually acted as a diplomat for the Blood Dragons, he never actually joined them. He claimed to act merely in the defense of the voiceless men, women, and children of the city, whom he felt were being deeply wronged. As a result of this action, he was disowned and the Istabelik family name was removed from him. Eventually, the Blood Dragons negotiated to hand Seriss over to the Hydra clan to face Amenik's judgement.

When Seriss refused to recant his actions and embrace contrition before Lord Zutiv and ask forgiveness, he was sentenced to die on the Stone of Redemption. On the Stone of Redemption, he was exposed to the elements and denied any comfort or succor. His death came after several days, soul cleansed through his suffering, and he was accorded full funary rites. In the aftermath of Seriss' betrayal, Clan Leader Amenik made a judgment that henceforth no commoner would be adopted into a noble family within the Hydra Clan.
