The Shadina Family

Overview
The noble house of Shadina was a prominent noble family of the Bear Clan. Many fine politicians, mothers, and even soldiers were members of this clan, and it is said that the family of Sir Gellhorn was even a bastard offshoot of this family. Unfortunately, all members of the family died out during the war, though it is said that some may be being held slaves in Shamibel or Ellish.
In early 25 A.U., in response to the Bear clan's long-held wishes for a new noble family, then-Lord Proxy Taleo Ista Aldrik ennobled the Actis family, a bastard offshoot of the Shadinas, under the name of Shadina, thus marking the return of the house of Shadina. Although the Actis family were commoners, their noble blood and their taking the name of a noble family lent them legitimacy as new nobles. The family does, however, occupy something of a precarious position as almost, but not quite, neo nobles.
The revived Shadina family is headed by Lady Endeera, formerly a baker of reknown in the clan, who was made Clan Minister of Morale upon her enoblement. More recently, she serves as Palace Governess for the Republic, as well as Minister of Propriety and the Undersecretary of Economics for the Bear Clan. She is the widow of Lord Anaxotran, a clan hero from the Great War and former Sharanir. He, along with their daugher Lady Pamella, was brutally murdered by rebels while touring family lands in Nelabam in 36 A.U.
Among others ennobled were the couple's children: Lord High Priest Arnax of the Polytheistic Temple of Zutiv and Lady Pamella Shadina, who was the Bear Clan Minister of Economics until her unfortunate death. Two of their widowed son-in-laws were granted nobility as well; Naxa's husband Lord Isio, who married into the Tanelish family, and Yanna's husband Lord Xegolus, who later married into the Teranzik family. Lord Isio's children Zelva, Dedalion, and Querash became noble -- though Querash would later lose this upon his scandalous marriage to a commoner. Lord Dedalion Shadina would die an all-too-early death in 34 A.U., after being murdered. Originally, it was thought his sponsoree Ojafi was responsible, but Wendos Aedilik was the true culprit. Although Lord Xegolus' children all became noble Shadinas, they have all since left the family. Lady Zanna married into the N'Gadanik Family, Lady Xamori joined the Teranzik Family with her father's remarriage, and Lord Urminius became a member of the Manosik family. Last to be ennobled was Tagali Dilarik, a former steward to the Ista Aldrik family, who they wished to honor by arranging his marriage to Pamella scant days before the Actis family became noble.
In the wake of the dissolution of the Ista Barun family, Lord Docci was divorced from his wife, Lady Nevra, and married to Lady Zelva Shadina. The children from his previous marriage, as well as Nevra's previous marriage, have become Shadinas as well.
History
The prominent Actis family was an offshoot of the once noble Shadina family. It is from this family that Sir Gellhorn was born, and it carried on its noble pursuits for many years. Their members had been important and valuable members of the clan for years as farmers, teachers, politicians, soldiers and priests. The family motto was, "A Policy of Politeness."
The family was colorful, but never, ever, directly impolite. Wacky, conniving, unscrupulous, but never, ever, rude. One famed tale about one of their members includes Sir Anaxotran, who was jailed several times for his drunken whoring and debts as a youth but never disowned until the day he failed to invite a visitor into the house and offer her refreshments. Sir Anaxotran eventually won his way back into his father's heart by becoming a war hero during the Great War, and lead the family for many years. He was a Sharanir of the Bear Clan, but became far too old to lift a sword, though no one ever told Anaxotran that.
Like Don Quixote, Anaxotran was always up for a fight against evil, donning his armor until it was so heavy he could not walk. During the Shamibelian Air Raid of 24 A.U. he tried to suit up for war, and got his long white beard stuck in his helmet. Fighting blindly when the visor shut, Anaxotran did manage to fend off a Shamibelian by falling upon him. The family still celebrated his valor. After all, it would be impolite not to, and luck is a virtue too.
In 25 A.U., as noted above, then Lord Proxy Taleo Ista Aldrik declared the Actis family as victors in a competition for nobility, and ennobled them under the name of Shadina. The Actis family thus became the revival of the long-vanished noble house whose illegitimate descendants they had been.
