Overview
Despite his age, Solan is still an exceedingly attractive man -- especially when his sly lips turn at their corners. Chiseled cheekbones and an otherwise perfect exterior are not marred by age, they are enhanced. His eyes hold years of wisdom, the wrinkles around them merely accenting that held intellect. Solan stands tall and confident, shoulders back and head high. His build is slightly thinner than the average man, though holds an appearance of adroitness.
Solan is in his own mind, superior to others and he is not above letting others know. He thinks highly of himself and little of everyone else, which just shows why he does things his way, over directions or suggestions from others. He has a very slow temper -- slow to rise, slow to escalate, slow to explode. He knows to wait, to bide his time, and is an exceedingly patient man... as long as he gets what he wants in the end. And generally? He does. Solan knows best for himself and probably everyone else. He is controlling, manipulative, and shallow.
Ranks & Offices
- Former Delegate of the Republic
For many years, Solan worked as a delegate of the Firan Republic. He eventually came to disagreements with then-Clan Leader Inaya and was brought out of office by the people. He has since decided to slide out of the limelight.
- Political advisor for Elianos, sponsored by said Ranivor
- Minister of Economics, Chimera Clan
- Minister of Agriculture, Chimera Clan
Family Life
Parents
- Hannah Harror (d) Solan loved his mother in his youth. He then came to learn that she saw everything to be fine in society. He cared for her less after that day. Hannah died while the Harrors were in captivity -- killed before Solan's very eyes by a Shamibelian. With her demise, Solan swore he would avenge her.
- Seilic Harror (d) Seilic was a proud and yet humble man. He taught Solan all there was to know of Firan politics and behavior, and led Solan to choose the vocation he now pursues. Seilic passed away -- as the elderly do. When Solan's first son was born, he was pleased to give the child a name that harkens to his father.
Siblings
- Kieri Harror(d)
Kieri is Solan's half-sister by the woman that his father eventually married after the war. Though Solan has never really forgiven Kieri's mother for the crime of not being _his_ mother, Solan does not hold it against Kieri. Kieri and Solan have a teacher/student relationship. Kieri is pure to Solan, one of the only pure souls he believes to exist. She is now a priestess of Unot, and has taken on responsibilities caring for the household. When a fire took the Harror villa, Kieri moved out -- but has long since moved back. She has taken to Solan's son Saelus beautifully; it is a good activity to sit and watch her with the boy. Solan had spoken of finding Kieri a husband -- but nothing has come to pass yet. Kieri was killed at the front by complications from a stray firebomb.
- Falori Harror (d).
Falori was the sister that experienced the same horrors as Solan did as a child. Unfortunately she died in childbirth a many years ago. Solan misses her, but she doesn't often come up in conversation. He does have reservations when people give birth now, however, and refuses to be in the room. Just in case the worse should happen.
Marriage
Malvina is his ex-wife. Solan adored her eyes -- golden eyes. They met at Vinia's flower shop and Solan instantly decided that he wanted her as a wife. She was a craftswoman, a minister, and someone good to have in the house. He made it perfectly clear that she was to produce an heir, a son, to inherit the Harror fortunes. She never did. When it dawned on Solan what the problem may be, he took to drinking. The marriage unraveled and Lord Kristover pushed a divorce. In retrospect, Solan knows he is probably lucky the formerly noble Rissik Family didn't try to force him to give Malvina everything he owned. Nevertheless, Malvina moved on and married a man in the Griffon Clan. They had spoken a few times, but Solan never really invested much in it. The last time he really spoke to her, he annoyed her in the Forum. Which was funny. She was executed for her involvement with the Rissik family in the aftermath of the Antonian Apostasy for her connection to Kristover and Yasha. Solan rarely talks about her now.
- Ladonna Harror.
Solan met Ladonna, an Eagle at the time, in the middle of the street; she was quite upset about her home being lost or something like that. She looked so familiar, Solan couldn't resist offering her a room in his estate... which she promptly refused. Eventually, it slowly dawned on him why she looked so familiar; she is one of Yasmina's daughters. He decided that he wanted to marry her and would do so at all costs. The wedding took ages to prepare and only came to pass in the aftermath of the Antonian Apostasy (Solan told her something about her sister being arrested, her entire family was in danger, she should marry out quickly). Ladonna is a strange girl; she can be cruel and cold or she can be beautifully bubbly and sweet as can be. None of that matters very much; she gave him an heir. A son. Perfect. Solan does care about Ladonna, but theirs is a chilly relationship. She is perpetually almost out of his reach. She also tends to get into scuffs with the law; she forged a will leaving things to some dead woman's children and was sentenced to what seemed like a life in the military. Evidently she was heroic at war -- the war season of 43 A.U., which saw Kieri dead -- and received a pardon. Solan finds her vastly stupid sometimes -- but there are redeeming qualities. He tolerates her some days, loves her others. And... she /did/ give him a son.
Children
- Saelus Harror.
The firstborn. The Son. It was a long time coming and Solan was well into his 50s when Saelus arrived, but here he is: a child. Solan /adores/ the little tyke. He takes him everywhere -- to the fields to watch the hands, to the city to speak to diplomats, to the offices to watch ministers work.
Accomplishments
- Firan Delegate of the People
Scandals
- Sadera
Sadera was once a Harror, reportedly a cousin of Solan's. And a slaver. The entire family was declared innocent, Sadera was cast out, and the Harrors just tried to forget about her. The Clan Council deemed her guilty and the Religious Council soul deathed her.
Miscellany
