Speech: After the Arrows
From FiranMUX
Summary
This speech was made just after the assassination attempts at the wedding of Tia and Ojitar by then-Princess Tia Elianik.
The wedding was met with some dislike; the Republic's people felt that they were giving up a princess to a Gold Dragon -- the Gold Dragons themselves said that Tia and Ojitar weren't even married (they were not wed in the True Temple) and that Ojitar was making Tia little more than a whore. Moreover, the Scirlut disaster was running wild and Tia's father, Prince Sadin Elianik, had delivered a speech asking for the wedding to be delayed or even canceled.
The wedding did, however, go on and afterward the ceremony, Tia spoke to the people.
Speech Text
"Good citizens, these words may take a while to get to you but I shall speak regardless. My mother was born a Firgalik. It has been a long time since she bore the name but she has never once forgotten the lessons and the grace that comes with it. Today, I become Lady Tia Firgalik. Today, I bear the grace and beauty of a Firgalik woman. I will take the lessons I learned from the Elianik family and I will apply them in a new way. I give myself to my husband and I support him as is befitting of a Gold Dragon woman. I like to think that in some small way Lady Lucretia, my mother, has returned home through me.
The Palace will be open for the reception of the wedding of Lord Ojitar Firgalik to Lady Tia Firgalik. To those who the attackers sought to bring terror, we will bring warmth and shelter. Lord Ojitar stood strong as a man should with his weapon in his hand against those that sought to destroy this day and I will stand strong as a woman can and I will see this reception through. The bindings of a marriage are stronger than the sharp edge of an arrow."
