Summary

Lady Proxy Akiva Ista Aldrik was sent on a mission to Nelabam to quell the armed resistance responsible for the murders of Lady Pamella Shadina and Lord Anaxotran Shadina, as well as numerous other crimes such as abducting Bear girls and selling them into slavery. The criminals claimed to be 'fighting' to restore Nelabam to Cockatrice control, but did so without the support or acknowledgement of the Cockatrice clan itself. The mission itself was semi-covert, involving a woman, Odoni Istanar, travelling in disguise as Lady Akiva, who then arrived secretly with a contingent of elite Bear soldiers to destroy the rebels when they launched an assassination attack on her double.

Speech Text

In the city of Nelabam, there is a bit of chaos in the marketplace as a small contingent of Bear soldiers arrives on the scene. They meet with the delegation converged on 'Lady Akiva' and one of them is lifted up onto a quickly borrowed wagon for the purposes of making a speech. She pulls off her helmet and tugs her hair back away from her face, revealing her distinctive facial scarring, before she begins.

"Citizens of Nelabam. I am Lady Akiva Ista Aldrik, and today has seen the end of a long and horrific reign of violence in your city. I must offer my thanks and gratitude to the soldiers who escorted my assistant, Sentry Odoni Istanar, in her delicate and important mission to draw out the brigands. Too long have the daughters of your families been in danger -- and most of all, too long has the lost spirit of Lady Pamella Shadina cried out in the darkness for justice. We have delivered justice here this day. Each man killed in this policing was guilty of partaking in the murders of Lord Anaxotran and Lady Pamella, and in the daily plotting to disrupt your own lives and well-fare. It has taken us too long to remedy this situation, and for this I must apologize -- but we demanded the highest proof of our operatives before we signed the death warrants of any man. These men were not good men. They were not heroes. They laid raw dirty hands on a soft, unarmed, unarmored noblewoman. They took her from her guards and her horse and ripped her clothing from her body. They committed horrible violence upon her. And then they commited the most grievous sin of all: they murdered her soul. There is no forgiveness for this, not in the eyes of the Bear throne, and not in the eyes of the gods. But in this we are more merciful than they, for each brigand who died today will be given a proper funeral."

She pauses and takes a breath. "That is not the only reason I have come. For too long we have neglected the proper obligations of noble leadership in this city, and that must be remedied. The first act in this remediation is to build, rather than destroy: in Nelabam, by the hands of all our crafstman, will be built the largest wedding maze in Eesha's name to grace the face of Aerval. We do honor to the city's history of matrimony, and dedicate this maze to the worship of Lady Eesha and the celebration of the affection between Lord Unot and the lady. This Great Maze will be a destination for all Firans of faith and a romantic heart, and the pilgrims who visit it will enrich the coffers of all the citizens of Nelabam. There will be other civic improvements to follow, but this is the grandest and most far reach project we have planned. I ask you all now to hold these words in your hearts: In peace we wish to live, with full pouches and homes full of happy children. Let us all live together under the eyes of the gods, and know peace."
