Speech Text

Alessandro motions for the crowd to silence, and then climbs into a crate, clearing his throat. "Soldiers and People of the Republic! I come before you carrying the final speech Lord High Priest First General Donos Ista Aldrik every wrote. So confident was The General of his men's assured victory, he delivered this scroll to me to be read to the troops after the victory. However, I felt it appropriate to share it with _ALL_ of you. Because all of us have sacrificed for the Republic, ever last one.

Alessandro then holds out the scroll, and recites.....

"Members of the Clan Council, Citizens of the Republic.

Over six months ago I pledged that I would free Ellish. And today I say to you all, Ellish is free.

The Republic army has fought harder, longer and further than at any time in the last forty years. Not since the Great War itself has the Republic struggled, banded together and overcome such odds. And by the grace of the gods themselves, we are Victorious!

Prince Savaren, Prince Lucas, Prince Lianos, Prince Rislan, Princess Thaddia and, most of all, Prince Argin have earned the respect and admiration of the entire Republic. As the First General of the Republic I can truly say that I admire and respect them all and believe they embody all of the characteristics of Elianos himself.

The Clan Council supported this war and believed in it. Their support made this possible, let none forget that.

Clan Leader Fidelia, The High Priestess, sent the priests to war, and they war they did. They did struggle and they did such deeds as to make the gods themselves proud. Go to the temples, give thanks to the gods and thank every priest who ventured forth on this campaign.

For the families of those who have passed, think but this. They have passed into Lord Unot's embrace as heroes, every one. Dying for the greatest cause any might desire; a hope, a dream, a legend born. Let their names be spoken throughout the Republic for they died that we might know victory.

The army may have won this war, but many other wars have happened, every year for forty years we have struggled to take Ellish, so do not think that those who strived before failed, say that they paved the way that we might walk upon their backs and achieve greatness.

Lastly to the army I say this. You have done all that I have asked and more. You have bled for the Republic, you have died for the Republic and now, now we shall drink together, for Ellish is free and the Republic is whole at last."

Alessandro, by the end of reciting the scroll, let's two single tears roll down his weathered cheeks, and he steps down from the crate.
