Speech: It was Just a Test

This was given on August 13, 26 A.U. by Lady Proxy Ibania Istabannos.

It was also three days after the I Hereby Declare Myself Cockatrice Clan Leader speech. Both speeches are famous because they touched off the Cockatrice Civil War which ultimately lost the Clan two of its cities (Nelabam and Sarkaran) and resulted in Nydiam becoming clan leader.

Speech Text

Mounting the steps, Ibania looks at all the ruckus she has, in a way, caused, and her expression is actually filled with sorrow.

"First. The speech you heard me give three days ago was a test only. An exercise. A chance to see genuine reactions from allies and enemies. I am NOT in fact the Cockatrice Clan Leader, as in fact, someone pointed out. My judgment, if you read closely, and some did, essentially just kept me as a proxy. Someone who leads until the Clan Leader returns. However, this has shown what I needed to see. Things I needed to know. Where my clan stands. Where other clans stand. Yes, the Cockatrice are a proud and growing clan! And I am proud of them!"

A pause, and she sobers, "However, my father has been gone too long. And so, and this part isn't a test, I am organizing a group to go and find them. I won't be leading it personally, though I would like to. But I would like a group of determined and brave adventurers, to be outfitted well, with trials held for who will go."

"Secondly, although no one pointed this out, and for that I am disappointed, my sister Katriva Istabannos remains missing. Although I had been assured efforts were still in place to locate her, I am pledging a reward for whoever finds her." A pause, "Whosoever finds my sister shall receive the sum of five million stenis, and a plot of land."

"Finally, I offer my goodwill to all the citizens for reacting honestly in all this..and for sparing our ferries."
