Speech Text
If there was ever a time for the Gold Dragon clan leader to be righteous, this is the time. He glances down at the light glinting off of his medallion and steps forward, hands raised high. His face is thrown high, eyes open wide and flashing with the resolve of a man who knows his path. Inside, he summons the blood of his Gold Dragon ancestors, knowing that only that part of his being may yet bring order out of this terrible chaos. When finally he speaks, his voice rings out over the crowd with the only thing he knows these people will respect: power.
"Citizens of the Mighty Clan of the Gold Dragon! It is true that I was born Cockatrice, and raised a Griffon. But in my veins runs the true blood of Judano, son of Firgalas!" His eyes flash briefly with the wild-eyed look of resolve that a true grandson of the revered leader could muster. "I am Gold Dragon, and tonight I intend to prove it to you!" He looks to the left, and then to the right at the troops on either side. The troops that /he/ is leading.
"Lord Argus Firgalik has stood before the Clan Council, and in a unanimous vote of the clans, been convicted of treason of conspiring to bring about the downfall of the Republic. Even now, the Shamibelians mass on our borders, waiting to invade at the slightest hint of war. If we war against the Bears, they are ready to slaughter each and every one of us. Man, wife, children. If we war against each other, they will do the same! Are you ready to give up your family, your loved ones? You may yet find honor without this bloodshed! And," he breathes, "I will give all that I have, if need be, to save my people, though you spit and curse my name. I told you I was the true grandson of Firgalas, and that I was going to prove it to you. And so I shall!"
He reaches up and angrily grabs the thin leather cords that bind the clan medallion around his neck, and pushes it up towards the sky. "Your ancestors followed this when it hung around the neck of my father, and his father before him. It is twined with my blood, and I with it!" The muscles in his jaw clench with an ever increasing furor, the likes of which the citizens before him have never seen from him. "Obey me! Obey the medallion! Obey the blood of Firgalas! Or, I swear in his name, I will become him! And any citizen that seeks to cause death, who would betray us and see our clan weakened against a far greater enemy than the pathetic Bears..." The chieftain's nostrils flare, and he shakes the medallion with a fist. "... I will see that death is visited upon them ten-fold! Hear my words now, and heed them! My father died at the hands of the Shamibelians... I will let no one else suffer the same fate!" With that, he stands there, medallion still held high. If he could choose to be, he would be enwreathed with flame.
