Speech: Rissik Family Treason

This speech was given by then-Prince Torianos Elianik on July 22, 39 AU.

This speech came around the same time as the speechs for the Antonian Apostasy and the renown of the speech stems from the same root. While Taleo's speeches were focused on the Republic, Torianos' speech was more centered on the Chimera clan and the treason of the Rissik family. This speech is particularly famous though because it announces both the denoblment of the only other Chimeran noble family but also that soon-to-be clan leader Torianos, performed the necessary executions himself.

Speech Text

Our clan is the embodiment of what the Republic stands for. We are a diverse people that derive our strength from our faith and unity. The Chimera clan is also like the Republic in that we have recently dealt with certain members who wanted to violently overthrow the leadership.

It has been almost two months since I was given the task of investigating the Rissik family's rumored treason. It was a complicated situation and took sometime to separate the guilty from the innocent. Mer Kristover Rissik, Mes Yasha Rissik, Mer Orestes Rissik and Mes Malvina were all found guilty of treason and have been executed.

Her honor Inaya, Lord Proxy Inarus and I spent a lot of time discussing what should be done with the other members of the Rissik family. The Rissik family has a history of questionable loyalty and as such this instance isn't the first strike against the family. This history requires a punishment for the entire family because they failed to keep their family in good standing. The whole family will remain common until such time as they can prove themselves worthy of nobility, and furthermore, they will all remain within the Chimera clan while they seek to make amends for their family's crimes.

Every member of the Rissik family that has yet to have their ceremony of souls has nothing to atone for. As they are not adults, they don't yet have the responsibility or ability to keep their family from walking down dangerous paths. In that light, all of the Rissik children will be fostered with the Elikista family while the Chimeran throne considers their futures within the clan.

The clan will absorb the land and funds that belonged to those that were found guilty, and we will use them to further the clan as it strives to regain the ground that it lost. We will begin the process of rebuilding and become stronger than before. We are the clan of Elianos - we have weathered this storm and will forge on with his strength.
