Summary
This is the speech given to the troops before the Battle of Ellish began. Donos had given a stirring speech before every battle and his final (living) speech was the most stirring of all. Delivered on Friday October 19th, 42 AU at the Mustering Field.
Speech Text
From the Firan Forts to the gates of Ellish itself we have destroyed every army that faced us until even the goats learned to surrender or rout.
Soldiers of the Republic, as we hurl ourselves forwards once more we fight not for a fort, not for a gully, not for a hilltop pass. No, we fight for Ellish itself.
The stones you walk upon are the stones of Ellish. The walls that surround you are the walls of Ellish
By standing here, we have already won.
It's time to make the goats understand that.
It's time to remind them how terrible it must be to face us; the children of the Dragon and the Bear; the Chimera and Griffon; The Hydra and Cockatrice; The Eagle and Fire People! We stand united as we have never truly been since the city of Anarinuell was freed from the Goats.
Soldiers of the Republic, look around you. The Clan Council stands with us in spirit if not in body. They believed in this army, they believed in you and they dug deep, putting aside politics to unify. Do not let them down.
The citizens of the Republic believed in this army, they believed in you. From noble households to children going without, this Republic has poured its heart, soul and money into this army. Do not let them down.
Your fellow soldiers rely on you, they look to you. Shields shall remain up, blades shall be sharp and ever pointed at the enemy. Your shield-partners depend on you. Do not let them down.
Elianos' line is with you. Our princes, they have laughed with you, fought and bled with you and today they stand defiant, the legacy, the shining example of what makes this Republic great. Do not let them down.
And I believe in you. And I know you will not let me down.
Remember this above all: the Gods are watching! Make sure they are not ashamed!

OOC Information
Donos' speech is the first speech given in front of Ellish ICly. But it is also a landmark in Firan history OOCly as it is the first multi-media speech given on the game. Donos' player recorded himself reading the speech and posted it where soldiers could hear it; most agreed this made the experience that much more real and visceral, and was one of the highlights of the war.
