Speech Text

People of the Bear Clan, when I accepted the Bear Clan Medallion after the Bear Clan's unconditional surrender in war, I accepted such knowing that I would be part of a transition period to my eventual retirement. Like all Bear citizens, it was my unwavering intent that the Bear Clan should rise from its humiliated status to a position of great strength and superiority. And in the three years of my tenure, I have accomplished that goal.

When I took the helm, the Bear Clan morale was not only at an all-time low, but we were in a state of fiscal and military disaster. We had suffered our biggest defeat in recent memory, our officials were corrupt.

Upon taking the medallion, I took the following steps to address those problems: Hired new ministers to compliment those that have proven affective in the past, and removed those that were not. I removed those military leaders that allowed our failure, and replaced them with those that allowed for our greatest victories. Now, the Bear Clan treasuries are secure and we have achieved fiscal stability and prosperity. Corruption has gone down, literacy is on the rise, and our population has increased by sixty-thousand proud citizens. For the past decade the Bear Clan has been calling out for nobility to match that of the other great clans in the Republic. I heard your pleas, and under my rule we have welcomed the Ista Barun family and celebrated the return of Shadina blood to nobility.

Successful alliances have been forged through marriage and diplomacy. I have rejuvenated the traditional minister's council. Moreover, for the first time in our lifetimes, a new city has been added to the Bear Clan as our soldiers played the role of liberators and restrained the baser instincts of those who would have destroyed and brought about bloodshed and ruin.

Through these accomplishments I have kept every promise made to the Bear Clan and to myself in taking this medallion--every promise but one. My retirement. It is with these accomplishments in mind that I must now turn to consideration of the path ahead of me.

The Teranzik family has traditionally served the Ista Aldrik family loyally, as I have in my leadership as proxy to Clan Leader Sabine. With the birth of Lord Aldrin, son of Lady Fidelia, the Ista Aldrik family grows in power and strength. It is time for me to start considering whether or not to begin the slow and stable transitional steps toward my retirement. At this point I ask you, the Bear Clan people, for your input in the matter.
