Staff Meeting 1 : War Season 2009

The following is an edited transcript of the first meeting held by Leia to discuss War Season 2009.

Leia says "Thank you for attending the first war meeting! I think this will be the first war season I am officially the main GM. My lovely co-GM will be Shelly. I have brought her here for the cake. Also, I already have Kelli on board as well. I promise you that although we are women - many a person have said I have big balls plus I live with Atreides and pass things by him. So, hopefully it will be good." *Firan*

Leia says "I wrote this all out handwriting - don't ask me why I didn't type it. Hah...anyhow. I wrote up a bit on the state of Ellish so people can understand where we are out." *Firan*

Leia says "The Firan army is seriously depleted. The previous push on Ellish as well as the Eagle situation has created a tight spot for the Firans. They could choose to push forward but it would certainly be a death sentence for the Firan people. Ellish has not been tamed yet. The various factions maintain their identities and desires. The Shamibelian Resistance remains strong in the face of the opportunistic raids made during the first Lurashar attacks. The Firans must maintain their grip on the future if they intend to recover their military. In a world where free people roam like savages and there are Shamis at every turn, welcome to Operation: Regeneration." *Firan*

Leia says "The official Ellish GM'd tours will cover approximately three weeks and spread out over the summer. I am looking at the last week in June for the first tour. If you miss it, there will certainly be others." *Firan*

Leia says "Tours will be GM'd similar to last year with approximately one mission per evening. So expect a similar format for the week. (Now with more hair pulling!)" *Firan*

Leia says "This year, however, we will open up Ellish as an RP location for all players between the tours weeks. Player will be allows to travel back fairly freely with some restrictions." *Firan*

Leia says "*tour weeks" *Firan*

Brandon says "So during the tour weeks, there will be no free travel?" *Ooc* Leia will get to that.

Leia says "Players who go there to find some RP must be willing to develop a reasonable excuse as to why they are there. Danger will be muted between tours as long as civilians stick to designated RP areas. Some reasons I can see for roleplay are goodwill missions, charity, soldier entertainment, training exercises or criminals trying to take advantage of the "market"." *Firan*

Leia says "The rules are if you start to become a hassle to the soldiers who are already stressed out or the GMs. We will throw you out of Ellish and you don't get to come back. Ever." *Firan*

Leia says "3 days before tour week we will let people know if they do not intend to be a combatant of some sort they need to get out of Ellish. If you stay, you are fair game for all tour week fun! Civilians will be closed off to make this less stressful for people who have to lead the soldiers. (Hence the no free travel)." *Firan*

Leia says "Any questions at this point?" *Firan*

Pippa says "Will the war season focus on fighting the in-city-folks or Shamibelians or both?" *Ooc*

Leia says "That sort of depends on what the military chooses to do." *Firan*

Trysta says "And no separate factions? Just the repmil?" *Firan*

Adam says "Players have a tendency to wander around and explore. How will we catch people outside the designated safe zone?" *Ooc*

Leia says "I haven't gone that far yet. I wrote this today to be honest. I think restrictions need more developed." *Firan*

Aldrin says "What are the chances of getting an Ellish-living alt to play during the civilian tours?" *Firan*

Aldrin says "Temp character." *Firan*

Anorna says "Will there be guest GMs like last time?" *Shamibelian*

Leia says "I don't intend to GM say for the griffons separately." *Firan*

Chelona says "So the segregation between Griffon Republic forces and Republic Military Forces will be avoided this time?" *Firan*

Leia says "Not OOCly no." *Firan*

Leia says "But if they separate, the clans will need to be prepared to amuse themselves." *Firan*

Leia says "ICly, I don't think I have the power to prevent anyone from separating." *Firan*

Leia says "Adam, do you want to discuss that later this week? I honestly have no plan right now that is exact." *Firan*

Adam says "Sure. We can talk about it later. =)" *Ooc*

Leia says "Also, I will make emits to this effect but the clans really don't have a lot of choice this year. If a clan pulls out, it is heavily likely they will seal the fate of Ellish and their border." *Firan*

Shelly says "Politically/strategically, the Griffons are in a better position to combine with the Republic after their two-pronged attack on the East Gate." *Sarojin*

Shelly says "They did, in fact, work together on that one, so there's certainly potential to pull together." *Sarojin*

Leia says "Missions will be sent in as short tinyplot submissions and reviewed on a case by case basis. Priority will be given to military oriented plots and Ellish faction plots. Plots deemed interesting that do not fit into the tour week will be offered to PHers and guest GMs to help run." *Firan*

Leia says "Soldiers can even guest GM as long as it's not directly related to the war effort (ex. helping orphans is not really a part of tour week but still cool - I'd be happy to let someone jump in this)" *Firan*

Leia says "Tinyplot write ups will be due 1 week prior to the tour. During a tour, missions may change but at least we will have some idea of what the Republic wants to start doing." *Firan*

Leia says "Any questions?" *Firan*

Leia says "Everything that does not get handled by plots or loose ends from tour week. Random stuff. The 500 questions that occur. Death. Cheese. And the eventual attack of pink rabbits will get handled by a weekly resolution day of my selection. This is so we have clear expectations and sanity." *Firan*

Chelona says "If I remember correctly there were tasks given to the various temples regarding Ellish. Among them the reestablishment of some of the faiths within the city. That is stuff for inbetween the tours?" *Firan*

Leia says "That would be my preference." *Firan*

Leia says "However, if the military makes it a priority, the temples can have some of tour week." *Firan*

Aldrin says "Would say 5th Division building TPs be handled during the military tours or during the civilian moments?" *Firan*

Leia says "I will take all tinyplot submissions. Once we receive them, we'll decide what is priority tour week and what will need to be handled in the meantime." *Firan*

Leia says "The staff will also be accepting assistants for GMing of all kinds staff and PHers. Assistants agree to remain out of war season for one whole week of the tour. There is no going back once you jump into some of this stuff and it is a lot of work but it's a great way to see me curse uncontrollably for 3 months." *Firan*

Shelly says "I will bake a cake for all volunteers. In spirit, I mean. you won't get to eat it." *Sarojin*

Weinus says "Does that mean we could plan on assisting staffwise for tour 1, then send the military alt tour 2, and so on, without IC repercussions for them not going in the first wave?" *Firan*

Leia says "I would hope that your COs would not punish you for helping me." *Firan* Leia says "I might make a SAD FACE." *Firan*

Brandon says "If your COs punish you for GMing, they will be beaten." *Ooc*

Shelly says "We ask commanding officers/leaders to understand when players cannot attend war season for OOC reasons (alt conflict, GMing)." *Sarojin*

Shelly says "This usually comes up, unfortunately." *Sarojin*

Leia says "That's all I had today. I sort of just picked this up last week and wrote a lot of thoughts today. It's not all completed worked out in the least. You do not need to submit anything today. But at least, you have a date to aim for." *Firan*

Leia says "Are there any other questions?" *Firan*

Lindsey says, "Yes. If I see people wandering around, can I just NPC a bandit and attack them? Because I'm going to."
