Submitting Logs

When submitting logs, it will help both staff and players to keep the following rules in mind:

  • Limit your logs to one per character per week. We get a lot of logs from players, so we rarely can get to them all. If you do send more than one for a character, we will read the first log sent. So it's preferable to wait until the end of a week, select among your logs for your best RP scenes, and send that one in. You can, of course, submit one log per alt per week.
  • Edit your logs! Pick a small section that showcases your best role-playing in each log, and delete the rest. Add spacing to make them more readable. The less time the staff needs to spend reading each log, the more logs they will be able to read in a given amount of time.
  • Delete unnecessary room and object descriptions. The more readable, the better chance we'll award XP. We delete logs bigger than 50KB, since our mailer chokes on large mails. If you have a special event where the bigger log is actually necessary (i.e., a royal wedding), it's best to check with the staff first and once getting the go-ahead, split the log into parts.
  • Focus on showing your own character's role-playing, not what every one else is doing.
  • Avoid sending attachments. Send logs in plaintext format. If you send a log as an attachment or in something other then plaintext format, it may be deleted, since many of the staff can't read attachments.
  • Label your log by using the following format in the Subject of your email:

<character name>: <log name or title>

For example:

Elianos: The Ranivor yells at a stupid sentry
  • Clean up logs so that they are readable and that most extraneous OOC messages are edited out (such as public channel chat, out of character pages, and so on).
  • Email your log to firan-logs@yahoogroups.com. Please send only one log per week.

If you don't know how to log from your mudclient, our wizards should be able to offer you some assistance if they're familiar with the client.
