Talk:Firan Clan Newsletters
From FiranMUX
I've noticed that on the clan newsletters, there's a page that lists all the newsletters.
This seems sort of difficult to maintain. I think a better option is just to use the category page, which lists all the newsletter anyway if they're in the appropriate category (which they should be anyway). Right now it's organized alphabetically which is which you get 'Newsletter 1' followed by 'Newsletter 11' instead of 'Newsletter 2'. But you what you can do is, where the category is defined in the newsletters, put a sort key there. See this page for more details. Basically, you'd have something like you'd have . Actually, you wouldn't want the keys to be numerical, you'd have the same problem, but I'm sure there's a way around it, there must be a way to specify numeric sorting. I'll look into it.
I'd also recommend making a Newsletter category, and having all the clan newsletter categories be subcategories of this. (i.e., just edit the Chimera Newsletter category, for example, and add Category Newsletters at the top, and this'll create the top level Newsletter category, and add it for other categories as well.)
Anyway, just some thoughts on content organization. In general, I think wherever you can have Wiki autogenerate the page for you, as opposed to manually doing it yourself (i.e., using an autogenerated Category page versus a hand-crafted representation) it's the way to go: more efficient, and easier to maintain.
