Background
Formerly an upper middle class Eagle Clan family, the Tanelishes were elevated into the neo-nobility in 28 A.U. The Tanelish family is led by the compelling figure of Mes Jia Tanelish. The story of the Tanelish family, however, is not complete without knowing the history of the House of Jianni. The family of Jianni was an unusual one -- a neo-noble family who had not won their title, but earned it, through accumulating enough land and social status. Mes Jia Tanelish was once known as Lady Jia Jianni, founder of the Jianni Family with her first husband, the former Lord Quadeem Jianni, until their messy divorce marked the end of the family. The divorce settlement dissolved the noble house, awarded half the lands to Jia, but the custody of the children was awarded to Quadeem.
Former Lady Jia married her acknowleged lover at the time, Mer Tanik Tanelish, and started a new family. In the meantime, Jia's first husband took the name of N'Gadanik. Previously the two halves of the Jianni Family lived next door to one another, north of the city of Anarinuell, in bitter strife. However, with the Hydran Exodus, the N'Gadanik property was handed over to the Tanelishes - and the Tanelishes themselves have in recent years abandoned those lands in favour of a more secure house within the walls of the Eagle District. The form N'Gadanik estate was remodeled and is often rented out to those brave enough to live outside of the walls. Members of the Tanelish family include: Jia, her husband Tanik, and their children Suphi and Nikos, and Jia's siblings Udette, Indigos and Jennette. It is of note that in the fall of 21 A.U. Mer Indigos was disowned from the Tanelish family by the family head Mes Jia, after he brought dishonor to the family by insulting Clan Leader Taria. However, in the summer of 22 A.U. upon discovery that his behavior was due to nerve damage incurred from Black Death Whiskey, Indigos made a formal apology to the Oshta and was then welcomed back into the family along with his wife, Ishani. Further additions to the family due to marriage are Toozi, Nikos' wife, and Haranos, Jennette's husband.
In February 25 A.U., Jennette Tanelish died in childbirth, a result of a difficult birthing of her second child, Jehara. In April of 28 A.U., a royal decree of Clan Leader Zeysani ennobled the entire family. In April 29 A.U., during the first Hydra Civil War, Lord Haranos switched places with his brother Nicolos and went on a near impossible mission and died as a hero of the Republic. Lady Ishani Tanelish, as the Eagle Clan High General at the time, was beside Her Honor Zeysani for the second Hydra Civil War, more commonly referred to as Zeysani's_War.
