Official Statement
I will have your attention, everyone! I am Priest Tatomir, Beloved of Obala, Possessor of Unspeakable Power! Our Governor, Hralib, was murdered this morning, and by law, if the true killer is not found by tonight, his slaves will all be executed. Just in case they are not guilty of this heinous crime, I will conduct an investigation to find out who killed him. If I find out, definitively, I may show mercy. For the time being, I demand a statement from each of you. I want your name and everything you might know about Hralib's death, or the death of his unfortunate slave girl Throgana. And we will start with you, Caree, since you are the only person here of questionable status as a slave trader. And I remember well how you complained last night that Hralib cheated you on the price of your last slave shipment. So what do you have to say for yourself?
Background
Tatomir gave up on the glories of worldly possessions in favor of the subtler powers of the priesthood, and he glories in them. He likes having the power to kill and threaten people, and he loves having people frightened of him. He is not content where he is, however: this is a priest with ambition. He wants to be the greatest priest ever, and he wants to do something mighty with his life.
Now that Hralib is dead, after all, his position as Governor of Anarinuell is open again. Who is to say that it can't be Tatomir's? Can many dare thwart him?

Tatomir Round One
Round One Reveal
Tatomir was the first to find Hralib's body. That doesn't mean he's the killer, though!
When Tatomir inspected the temples near the body, he found a slow burning pyre still burning in Unot's Temple. It's his theory that the Firans were holding an illegal funeral there, Hralib caught them, and so they killed him.
Tatomir believes that the Samiroon slave Ladonna is a permit forger. She frequently delivers permits to slaves when she visits their masters to sing songs and entertain.
Everyone knows that because Caree works with the Shamibelians as a slaver, she has pretty much free access to anything in Anarinuell and could have gone to Hralib and killed him without anyone thinking it amiss.
On the other hand, everyone knows that Caree is a slaver in Shamibelian employ who works well with Hralib--what motive would she have to kill him?
Katriana used to belong to Hralib, and the two did not get along. She was thrilled when he sold her to the Shamibelian warrior, Forlanis. Now that Forlanis is considering the priesthood, though, her status is in question. Everyone knows that Katriana was worried sick that Hralib would buy her back from Forlanis if he was made a priest. Was she worried enough to kill him?
Round One Conceal
Tatomir has been experimenting with re-animation of dead bodies. This is not strictly approved of by other Shamibelians, and Hralib, in particular, thought it was dangerous to try. Even so, Tatomir made the attempt, in secret, just yesterday.
Tatomir never approved of the marriage between Hralib and Nobifa, because Hralib was married to Tatomir's sister, and now to his niece, which he thinks is incestuous and wrong somehow. Or at least, just plain greedy.
Worse yet, Hralib seems to have an unhealthy interest in his own wife's daughter--Fara. Tatomir can't be sure, but he suspects that the real reason Vitara Pevifa let her daughter fall into slavery is because the girl was flirting with her husband.
Tatomir always felt bitter that Hralib was chosen to be Governor of Anarinuell instead of Tatomir--he was so angry that he put his electrifying hands on a hapless slave and sucked the life right out of him.
Tatomir believed if he could resurrect someone powerful, like a Shamibelian Governor, that he would ensure himself lasting fame and glory with Obala, and would be justly rewarded
Tatomir's Ring of Hate was stolen a few days ago. He found it this morning on Hralib's body. Certainly, Tatomir would have killed anyone who stole his ring.
Round One Props
- Skull cup of (who?)
- Weapon
- Leeches for religious redemption
- Cauldron
Tatomir Round Two
Round Two Reveal
Hralib was trying to persuade Scithvor to free Fara Tibenya, a full blooded Shamibelian girl, and the daughter of Hralib's wife Pevifa. Even if Hralib could persuade Pevifa or another Shamibelian woman to give Fara land, Scithvor was reluctant to free her. Hralib and Scithvor had a bitter quarrel about it on the Night of Obala's Pride.
And it's no use accusing the girl. Hralib was actually trying to intervene on his step-daughter Fara's behalf, to win her freedom from Scithvor, so why would Fara kill him?
What Scithvor wants most in life is to become a Priest of Obala, and he would do anything to impress Obala--even kill.
Tatomir knows Dyanna has suggested, several times, that the Shamibelians declare the Temple District state property, since the number of buildings there make it unsuitable for private living. She thought Hralib could find a better estate for his wife Pevifa.
Tatomir knows that while the slave overseer Dyanna didn't have any problem with Hralib, she thought that his slaves were getting above themselves and acting haughty towards her. An example needed to be set, and getting them all executed would please Dyanna to no end.
Tatomir knows that Dyanna was asking a lot of questions about how cold certain Firan buildings get, saying she needed to keep some things 'on ice' for her Shamibelian masters. Wasn't Hralib found frozen to death?
Tatomir knows Inaya, believing that the Firan Gods abandoned their people, has been furious since the Fall of Anarinuell. As such, she is one of the main converts of Obala, and leads the Slave Temple. She's given unprecedented freedom, as a slave, and could easily have access to Hralib if she wanted it.
Tatomir knows that Akiva is fully literate in Shamibelian and can mimic people's signatures. He would not be surprised if she forged a few permits in her day. Likely, she could get anywhere in the city without being stopped.
Lainath is unable to control his slave Akiva and was humiliated in front of Hralib when he let her beg for Fidelia's life before the sacrifice. He took it out on Akiva by whipping and stocking her, but that might not have been enough to satisfy his rage.
Tatomir knows that Orsatos is rather rich, for a slave. He could have paid an assassin to kill his master Hralib for him.
Hralib found Empyrean to be a nearly worthless slave. Hralib forced Empyrean to learn to weave rope to "make himself useful" and gave him a lot of blue dyed pema to work with. The ropes that held the rug around Hralib's body were blue.
Hralib never approved of the fact that Hashi's main way of making money was renting out his slavegirls at the brothel. Hralib always thought Hashi should do more raiding and land clearing. The tension between father and son could have caused a fatal confrontation.
Hashi was trying to write up a Last Will and Testament to file with the priests. Did he think he was going to die, and why?
Round Two Conceal
Before the Night of Obala's Pride, Tatomir sent Dyanna to inspect the Temple District without Hralib knowing about it, to see if it would be more suitable as state property than a private estate for Hralib's wife Pevifa.
At 8pm yesterday, Tatomir had one of the rotting bodies from outside of Anarinuell dug up and brought to his chambers. He performed a re-animation ritual, but it didn't go as planned. The Lost Soul appeared, but did not actually incorporate in the body.
Tatomir tried to capture the soul, but he couldn't touch it. It slipped through his fingers, but it was clearly a man. It ran off, and Tatomir has no idea where it got to. He is worried that it killed Hralib, and that he is responsible for it.
Vengeful spirits have been known to kill. It's in all Shamibelian lore.
Round Two Props
- Various gate keys
- Reanimation Rituals
Round Two Additional Goals
- Demand to see some slave permits to make sure slaves aren't running around without proper permissions.
- Make sure no one finds out about the re-animated vengeful spirit.
- Find and get rid of the animated vengeful spirit.
- With Hralib dead, alliances are shifting. Choose some trustworthy state-owned slaves to be made overseers and given gate keys.
Tatomir Round Three
Round Three Reveal
It's ironic. The City of Anarinuell probably could have withstood a siege for years on end. But the Shamibelians sent Prince Lucas a message offering to let him rule as Ranivor, and to turn the Firan Realms into a protected client state of the Shamibelian Empire. All they asked for were the lives of the Clan Council and a slave tribute.
Tatomir is fairly certain that this persuaded Prince Lucas to surrender the city prematurely.
Tatomir really doesn't feel guilty about not keeping their word, because Lucas didn't hand over the whole Clan Council to them as promised.
