Teffies

When a Firan spirit is lost to the Impassable City of Lost Souls, it causes the Firans great anguish. If a Firan family is grieving the loss of an especially loved spirit, Eesha cannot close her ears. She is overcome with pity. Though Eesha cannot disturb the order that Zutiv and Unot preside over, she does, occasionally, take such pity upon a family that she will turn the lost soul into a Teffi. Teffies are small fairy-like creatures that attend to the Goddess and are sent on her bidding. Eesha sends Teffies to families who have lots of love or favor with the Goddess and the Teffies do small tasks for them when the family is not looking or is asleep. Families may wake up to find the day's cooking done, or to find more money in the jar than they left. Sometimes Teffies interfere more subtly and people think it is merely "good fortune" that has befallen them when it is really the hard work of a Teffi.

Teffies live in the Impassable City of Souls and can leave with Eesha's permission. They leave through the guarded gate and enter a secret passageway, which is guarded by an intelligent half-human, half-giant snake with skin made of silver. These guards are called Enifas.
