Dear Journal,
There's been whole bunches going on lately. Seems the Shamis got a hold of Anish one of the Gold Dragon cities so there was a early war season this year. After lots of fighting and bravery on the side of our men and women of the Republic military we retook the city and drove those evil shamis right back to shami town where they belong! Several of our own Ticanee soldiers went as well, Primo, Kendra and Ulrik to name just a few, thank the Totems and Gods both they all returned alive and aside from some cuts and scrapes and a broken bone or two, completely well. Once again the republic prevails, now if the different clans would just wise up and stop fighting each other we'd be in great shape.
Speaking of fighting among ourselves, seems Lady Junia Didoron got named proxy of the Cockatrice. Apparently that wasn't enough for her she had to go and stir up trouble too. From what i've heard she tried to take in that Bear clan noble family, the one that killed Lady Aldrissa, you know, those Ista Baruns. Anyway I guess one of them, Lord Docci didn't much care for that and said as much. So anyway, Lady Proxy Junia got a burr up her butt and started speeching all over the place, saying some stuff that folks didn't much like too. I heard she even kidnapped Lord Docci Ista Barun, or whatever his last name is now. I heard that our own Captain Ulrik Whitefeather arrested some Cockatrice captain for the kidnapping, making the Cockatrices call for Ulrik's blood. Well he's Ticanee...so they cant have it! Anyway, once again the Republic may be on the verge of interclan war. As if Shami raids aren't enough! Yeeesh.
On the home front, things are going pretty good for the Ticanee clan, our population is growing strong, and it seems that my Aunt Xenobia is helping it along! Yep, Aunt Xenobia's gonna have another baby soon. We're all real happy for her, well cept that there seems to be some problems brewing with her and Uncle Primo. It seems as though Uncle Primo has been being a male, and acting like a male, and well, we all know how that works out. Aunt Xenobia isn't pleased, but they'll make up, they always do.
There was some trouble with Srennik recently. I guess he kinda ticked off the Oshta, and as everyone knows...you just dont do that. The Oshta made a judgement that Srennik isn't welcome in the Ticanee clan anymore, and that the Griffons are welcome to him. He's moved into my Gramma Alinore's house for the time being. I sure do miss him, but he'll be happier there, he was always more Griffon than me anyway. He'll do well in the Griffon clan.
As for me, well i'm working my rear off trying to do this biography of my father, Sir General Agarn. Aunt Xenobia set it up for me as a test to see if i'm ready to be an initiate of Srenna. I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to gather information. I've had some really good interviews but i'm always looking for other folks who knew my dad. I even had a meeting with the Oshta who gave me lots of good information.
Oh, Harvinia and I had our Ceremony of Souls, along with a bunch of other kids, it was a nice ceremony, and both Harvinia and I made it through all of our prayers. Lots of folks where there, and everyone was really happy to see the new crop of young adults...wow, that kinda makes us sound like wheat or flax or something. But there were so many of us that it was almost like a crop.
The brother and sister that joined us from the Bobcat Tribe, Lutika and Okatik, seem to be settling in nicely. Okatik's about to settle down in a tent with Harvinia, and probably start bringing a bunch of little bobcats into the world. And Lutika, well she's started a tanning business. I'm glad to see they're getting settled, who knows, maybe we can convince the rest of thier tribe to come here too someday.
The Oshta had a party for me not too long ago cause I decided to stay Ticanee. It was an authentic Ticanee party too. We had a hunting contest between the men and women, the men won...this time. There was cooking and dancing and singing, and alot of my friends were there. Lilana organized it and did a great job.
Spring is here again, and with springtime comes the Spring Festival of Eesha. I'm really looking forward to it, as is everyone else i've heard from. Again there will be pentathalons and maybe even a new noble! In honor of the festival Lord Viceroy Taleo Teranzik has ordered that there be no tolls and free baths for everyone for as long as the festival is going on. Yay for free gate tolls and baths...that will definately help with the festival attendance.
