Tips on planning your Firan Wedding

So you've decided to get married. Congratulations! Now the fun of planning begins.

As an absolute minimum, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Have wedding necklaces made (again, by yourself or a PC smith)
  • Find a priest or priestess to perform the ceremony. If you are a monotheist, it is best to have a Zutivan (monotheist) priest perform it. If you are a polytheist, any will do. If it is a 'mixed marriage' - something generally frowned upon but not unheard of for monotheists - you will probably have difficulty finding a Zutivan priest to perform the ceremony.
  • If you’re a Monotheist you will also have to consider what vows you wish to make at the ceremony.

You will probably also want to do the following:

  • Send out invitations (use @mail and/or post to the IC @bb)
  • Arrange for food (hire a PC cook or make it yourself)
  • Arrange for any entertainment you'd like to provide
  • Get wedding stolas/pallas and tunics/togas made (whether by you if you have the skill, or by a PC tailor)
  • If you are noble, and especially of high nobility (royal bloodlines and Heads of Household) you might well want to consider some special theme for the wedding, involving the entertainers, flowers and food & drink. Just to show up those neo-nobles that you’re better than they are.

It is best to plan a wedding on Firan weeks in advance. This means real-time weeks, not IC weeks. This will give you time to get all the items you need, since other players need time to make the required items. It's unrealistic to ask someone to take time out of real life and roleplay to make something without much advance notice.

One of the most crucial elements is the priest/ess. (See holy/list for their names and temples.) Line up one, and then ask one or two others if they will be around just in case RL prevents the first choice from appearing.
