About Torianos

Name: Torianos Vettle (Torianos Elikista)

Vocation: Slave

Age: 25

Starting Location: Slave Temple

Parents: Inaya Elikista, Vahlon Elianik

Traits:

Clan/Race: Chimera, Firan

Official Statement

I'm Prince Torianos Elianik, now I'm Ruffialo's slave. I used to be a guard so I do know a thing or two about law. And I wouldn't have done anything to endanger my wife. I think the obvious suspect here is Aldrin. They sacrificed Fidelia on the Night of Obala's Pride and he went crazy watching his mother die like that. He vowed to get revenge upon Hralib for allowing her to be sacrificed. Everybody heard him!

Background

Torianos was once the Clan Leader of the Chimera clan, once a Prince of the Republic. Now, he finds himself a slave. His wife is separated from him, his mother is going crazy, his brother Elianik Princes are endlessly bickering and Firans are turning on other Firans. Torianos may always have been marked for the succession of the Chimeran throne and not the Ranivor's medallion, but in his present circumstances, he is about at the end of his rope, trying to pull the threads of his life back together and save his family -- wife, mother, Princes -- and his people, all the Firan people.

Relationships

  • Melani -- Torianos' wife and the mother of his children.
  • Hralib -- Torianos' former master, Melani's master still--except he's dead.
  • Zaridos, Lucas, and Savaren -- Torianos' cousins, the princes.
  • Ruffialo -- Torianos' master.
  • Sarina -- Another one of Ruffialo's slaves, and Melani's personal guard before the invasion.
  • Inaya -- Torianos' beloved mother. He fears she hasn't been quite 'right' since they turned her into a brothel whore.
  • Anorna and Rodiste -- Fellow slaves of Ruffialo.

Goals

  1. Torianos needs to prove that someone other than one of Hralib's slaves killed him, or Melani will die.
  2. Torianos should ensure that with Hralib dead, Melani is auctioned off, and that Ruffialo will buy her.
  3. Torianos should convince the Firans that with Fidelia dead, he should be High Priest.
  4. Torianos should attempt to retrieve the bodies of the sacrificed Firans and burn them with proper funeral rites.
  5. Torianos should convince Priest Tatomir that because Hralib was murdered under the Great Marble Arch in the Temple District, that the lands should be forfeit to the state, and thus, the temples should not be made available for private use.
  6. Torianos should find a way to see Melani without getting caught.
  7. Use Ladonna to communicate secretly with the other rebel leaders
  8. Find out what brought about the Fall of Anarinuell.
  9. Either see blame assigned or get the other Princes to get past it; the distraction doesn't serve the rebellion well!

Torianos Round One

Round One Reveal

Torianos knows that Lucas once said the Firan Resistance would have more success if they killed some prominent Firan traitors, to show what would happen to collaborators like Throgana.

Torianos knows that Inaya is a forty-one year old priestess who has never killed anybody in her life--now that she's well past her prime, how could she have killed a war lord like Hralib?

Torianos knows Aldrin has theorized that using a firebomb on the palace could burn all the dead bodies there at once, thus giving them proper funeral rites. What other mischief could he have been up to?

Everyone knows that Hralib kept Savaren's wife, Princess Teonia as a slave, and violated her publicly. Savaren swore revenge. Maybe he finally got it. After all, if Hralib had forced Melani to breed for him, there's no telling what Torianos would have done.

Everyone knows that when Anarinuell was first captured, Savaren refused to kneel in supplication and abase himself before the conquerors, saying they could kill him if they wanted to. Hralib killed his brother Rislan instead, to punish him for his insolence, right in front of his eyes. Savaren has never gotten over it.

Everyone knows that Lucas was horrified that Hralib was burning all the scrolls in the Great Library. He feared that his Elianik family history would be lost, just like what happened to the Sennets. He said that no Shamibelian deserved to die more than Hralib, because he killed more than people, he killed history.

Round One Conceal

Torianos is one of the leaders of the Firan Underground Resistance Movement, here in Anarinuell. Zaridos, Lucas, Savaren, and Jalil are other members. They met last night, in the Temple of Zin, to strategize some new plans.

Torianos knows that the reason Savaren had a bloody nose on the Night of Obala's Pride is because the Firan Princes were brawling over a strategy disagreement.

Torianos knows that the reason Savaren came home wet and shivering on the Night of Obala's pride is because when he and Zaridos got into an argument about strategy during their revolutionary meeting, Zaridos shoved him in the pool of Zin.

Torianos knows that Lucas was wet and shivering after the Night of Obala's Pride because when the Princes got into an argument about strategy, Zaridos pushed him in the pool of Zin.

Torianos knows that after he, Zaridos, Lucas and Savaren all brawled in the Temple of Zin, Jalil was angry with them for fighting in a temple, and demanded that Zaridos hand over a ring that he was wearing.

Torianos knows that on the Night of Obala's Pride, the pool at the Temple of Zin was clear and sparkling, with a little layer of ice on its surface. Now, however, it's filthy with ash and there's a two-man-size-hole in the ice. They suspect Hralib was drowned there, and that the water simply froze on him after he was already dead.

Torianos knows that his mother Inaya has been acquiring Shamibelian Fire Bombs, and he would like to know why. She hasn't been right in the head, since the Shamibelians have abused her as a brothel whore. A woman her age! The infamy.

Torianos took great offense when Hralib gave the Ranivor's medallion to his loyal slave Throgana, to wear as a pretty piece of jewelry.

Torianos has been secretly burning the bodies of human sacrifices with proper Firan funeral rites, and that is why he often has ashes upon him.

Torianos always refused to give up his faith in the Firan pantheon, and preached that Hralib should be struck down for desecrating the Temple District by converting the temples into a complex of mansions for his wife Pevifa.

Torianos hated Hralib more than all the other Shamibelians, because the Governor of Anarinuell separated him from his wife Melani by selling him to Ruffialo.

Aldrin may be a little nuts, but might also be right; Torianos has theorized that using a firebomb on the palace could burn all the dead bodies there at once, thus giving them proper funeral rites.

Torianos Round Two

Round Two Reveal

Torianos knows that Sarina was, up until just yesterday, Hralib's slave and that their relationship was troubled.

Torianos knows that Sarina did not want Hralib to sell her, that she had fallen slightly under his sway, and that she exhibited signs of heartbreak at being sold away like chattle. She may have felt betrayed enough to kill him.

Torianos knows that Hralib's slaves Sarina and Throgana hated one another, and often got into fist fights. It's one of the reasons Sarina was sold--maybe she decided to get even with Throgana for getting rid of her.

Torianos knows that the real reason Hralib sold Sarina was because he caught her helping Torianos and Melani meet in secrecy, against his orders. Hralib said he would not tolerate in his slaves, someone who betrayed him like this. Perhaps, knowing that Melani got her into such trouble, Sarina would not feel bad about endangering Melani's life by killing Hralib.

Torianos knows that Sarina turned a style of Endab she learned from some Bonduins into a new martial arts form with the use of torches. Wasn't Hralib burned on his face and hands?

Torianos knows that the Samiroon slave Akiva has been asking him religious questions about whether or not Unot would be angry if, say, someone were to chop off a Shamibelian's limb, or finger, and eat it. Hralib's body was missing a finger, wasn't it?

Torianos knows Emma is so good at her beautician work that, prior to Hralib's death, she was close to buying her freedom -- Aldrin told him as much. Maybe she was afraid that Hralib wouldn't let her go, so she killed him.

Torianos believes that Orsatos has always been loyal to the Princes, having tutored them for many years at the palace, and that he was just pretending to be a good slave so as to avoid suspicion when he eventually killed Hralib.

Torianos knows that Orsatos was embezzling funds from Hralib and sneaking stenis his way to help pay for the rebellion. If Hralib had found out, he'd have killed Orsatos, so maybe Orsatos killed him first.

It's foolish for anyone to accuse Melani of the murders, because Melani often lamented her inability to just take a dagger and kill Hralib with it when he came near her, so how could she have finally found the nerve?

Melani and Empyrean were frequently driven to the height of fury whenever they saw Hralib, drinking from a goblet made of their father Taleo's skull. There is no doubt that Empyrean wanted him dead and the reminder of the last sacrifice, at the Night of Obala's Pride, probably sent him over the edge.

Torianos knows that Empyrean had been using forged permits to stalk Hralib in an attempt to catch him at a time when his eye was not on the Taleo-Skull goblet. Empyrean kept a keen eye on Hralib during the Night of Obala's Pride.

Empyrean stole Hralib's prized Taleo-skull goblet from the Great Library during the Night of Obala's Pride, because he brought it to Torianos and asked him to burn it and give proper funeral rites. Together they snuck into the Temple of Unot to burn it. But Torianos has to wonder how he got the skull cup away from Hralib--without killing him.

Round Two Conceal

Torianos knows that the Samiroon slave Ladonna is the Mata Hari of the Firan resistance movement, and carries messages between the Firans in coded songs. If she's willing to take those risks, wouldn't she take the risk of assassinating the Shamibelian Governor?

Torianos knows that the Firan resistance planned to kill Hralib in order to sew confusion, just before the Firans launched a counter-invasion against Anarinuell. Perhaps Ladonna had the opportunity and just jumped the gun?

Torianos knows that a Firan priest, Aldrin, converted his master, Warlord Ruffialo, to the Firan religion, and that he has been afraid Hralib would find out ever since.

Before the Night of Obala's Pride, Torianos repeatedly asked Ruffialo to buy his wife Melani from Hralib. Ruffialo told him that slaves could not be taken from a Shamibelian man against his will so long as he lived, but that if Hralib died, he would buy Melani on the block.

Torianos Round Three

Round Three Reveal

Torianos finds it hard to believe Jalil could be guilty, because he cautioned the Firans against killing Hralib, knowing that Shamibelian law would assume Hralib's own slaves were guilty. But what if he was driven by a power outside of himself.

Torianos remembers that when Jalil broke up the brawl between the Princes in the Temple of Zin, Jalil said, "Give me that effing ring," and then stalked off with it. If it was Tatomir's Ring of Hate, it might have made him murderously violent--and the ring did end up on Hralib's person by morning.
