Overview

Triane is extraordinarily delicate, both in appearance and general health, and it is a delicacy that seems to suit her. She's very trusting, heading off with whomever calls her without a second thought about her safety or well-being. A quiet person, Triane favors silence over actual dialogue. Her talents lie in the realm of animals; she is very good at communicating to them -- almost too good. She seems to seek solace in their quiet nature and is often found whispering in the ear of a rabbit or murmuring to a ferret. Triane spends much of her time alone, in a forest or some other peaceful place, speaking to the animals around her. Since Triane's Ceremony of Souls, she has felt a terrifying unease near griffon animals, specifically their very sharp, very pointed claws. She simply bursts into tears whenever a griffon is around, sometimes breaking her calm composure. She is extremely religious and visits the temple often, her prayers whispered and faint. Triane can, and often does, fabricate her own dream world, losing herself in it when the real world becomes too much. It is then that Triane speaks only to animals, telling them what she cannot tell people, whether or not those people are present at the time. Despite all this, Triane does have an unwavering devotion to certain family members and dear friends.

This young woman rarely smiles and even when she does, the expression seems more a reflection -- peaceful and knowing. Her red hair curls in gentle ringlets of soft flame, flickering at her pale, very delicately-featured face. Her lashes are long and dark, making her hazel eyes even larger and more spectacular; flashes of color leak out from them, forest green and flecks of blue. Despite the quiet look, it is also one of quiet intensity, as if Triane is taking in all things around her. A tall and statuesque young woman, she ignores her height and the presence it may give her. Her voice is soft, so soft she is hard to hear sometimes, and floats delicately in a high, but rich, timbre.

Family LIfe

Mother

Triane's mother, Ella, is an ex-Honoria. Her mother has stories that would boggle the mind and she is an incredible mother, sweet and loving, with a beauty that stuns the viewer. She smiles and talks and dances and all those things, things that Triane simply cannot understand. Her mother is a creature of curiosities, but little more than that. Triane has been asked by children who consider her their friend (the feeling not returned) what having an ex-whore for a mother is like. Triane merely stares at them and replies that she is the sweetest mother a girl could ask for, and good at everything. Triane does love her mother, but it is a quiet adoration that manifests itself more in silent stares than hugs or kisses.

Father

Jiri spends much of his time away from home, presumedly on wild adventures that he never tells the children. Triane wonders what he could possibly do on those crazy voyages, but is also quietly glad he's never told her. Triane finds him sturdy, steady, and guiding, though, and will talk to him whenever she can; he also has a habit of speaking quietly and the pair often have to sit wrapped in each others' arms just to hear themselves. Triane is a daddy's girl, much more her father's daughter, and their bond is the strongest Triane has within the family. She misses him very much, now that she's in Anarinuell.

Siblings

  • Shade. The eldest of the children, Snowe, is distant. She seems eternally lost in a dream world, making up stories and acting them out. Triane regards her with quiet adoration and sometimes seeks to emulate her eldest sister by disappearing into the woods or to the stables, finding her own solace in animals as Snowe finds in dreams. Snowe left for places unknown -- just up and vanished -- without sending word to the family. Triane aimed to find her elder sister, wherever in Aerval she wound up. Even if it took her away from Luragadin. Triane, blown on the winds of a storm, wound up wrecked in some strange city. As fortune would have, her sister wound up in that same city. Triane found her, but it seems Snowe is known by a different name. She goes by 'Shade' here, and Triane cannot figure out why.
  • Althea. Althea is a bit of an odd duck in an odd family. She looks like Triane, like their father, that is to say, and is older than her. But she's louder and talks an awful lot about swords and ale. And other violent things. She wanted to be a drunk at her Ceremony. Triane doesn't much dislike her, but she doesn't quite like her either. She's too boisterous for Triane to understand and that adoration of weaponry frightens the peace-loving Triane. Like Triane, and like their father Jiri, Althea is also a Chimera citizen.
  • Ferid. Ferid is the baby and the only boy. Triane didn't much like being pushed out of her spot as the family's littlest, but the birth of Ferid did mean Ella stopped doting on her quite so much (which was both good and bad). It gave her more freedom, but made her feel more alone. After Ferid's birth, Triane would steal away to the forests with greater ease and talk to the animals, to the trees, about how Ferid had changed their mother.

Spouse

  • Pontius. Pontius was an ex-Hydran turned Chimeran. He declared himself and Triane married in May of 40 A.U. and she did little to stop him. He was a rough man who liked his wife to be quiet (which Triane was) and to obey him (which Triane did). He was nearly killed just after he demanded their wedding. Triane, as is her usual way, has very little to say on the rough, violent man. Why, exactly, the peace-loving Firnaosian married such a vagabond is a bit of a mystery. On Nov. 27 41 A.U., Triane's husband was executed for a myriad of crimes against various people and Republic itself. He was declared a murderer, a kidnapper, a thief. Triane didn't see him after his arrest -- and she did not go to his execution. At the time of his death, Triane was several months pregnant with their first child.

Children

  • Pilate. Pontius' daughter. Born Feb. 25 42 A.U. in the middle of the forest, Pilate had a hard time coming into the world and suffered for the location. It was snowy, cold, and the baby has a cough. She is a sickly little thing... but so happy. Triane rather likes this. She's like an animal -- and Triane can identify with her. Some of Pilate's happiness rubbed off on Triane, so much so that Triane has become a tad more personable. She didn't expect to love Pilate, not really. After all... Pontius. But. She does.

Accomplishments

Choosing a Diety

Triane had always been devout to Firanos, but after (she believed) Uf sent her winds to guide her to her sister, Triane was unsure of who to pick. So, for a long while, she flipped back and forth, praying to each god for help. Ultimately, she decided she would be a member of Firanos' temple and pursue the priesthood under his protection.

Going to the Oracle

Triane, not long after the scandal of the painting on the Temple Arc, was dragged to the Oracle by her husband. She thought it particularly kind of him to take her on a trip she so very much wished to go on -- even though Triane picked Firanos as her patron, she never quite lost her love of Uf. While there, she asked Uf a question and was answered via the Oracle.

Scandals

Pontius

Pontius is not really a person one might expect Triane to marry. He is boorish, simply put, and there were many rumors that he raped and beat Triane. These were never substantiated. It /is/ known, however, that Triane was seen naked, bloody, and beaten running thorough the Old City. Not too terribly long after, she and Pontius declared that they were married.

Amenik's Kids

One day, the guard decided that the Firanosian Initiate must be involved with the kidnapping of Clan Leader Amenik's children in 40 A.U. This, they determined, was because Triane had had sexual relations with Pontius. After a whole lot of bobbling around, they arrested the young woman and threw her in a cell. Then... they released her. Nothing said, nothing done. Perhaps she had nothing to do with it after all.

The Painting on the Arc

A painting appeared one day on the arc of the Temples, the Great Arch. The big one. It was of a young woman bound by hard ropes, beaten, wearing scant clothing, and looking rather displeased by her general situation. The painting was labeled "Triane". Princess Thaddia Elianik made a speech about it, sending a manhunt out for Triane. For one little commoner. For a while, the public thought Triane might be a long-lost princess! Such rumors were never confirmed or denied.

Miscellany

Likes

  • Animals. Of all sorts, Triane adores animals. It comes with the Firanosian territory.
  • The forest. Also very Firanosian, Triane prefers the forest to nearly anywhere else in the world.
  • Peace, quiet, tranqulity.

Dislikes

  • War. Nothin' doin'. Triane has no tolerance for war. And for that matter...
  • Violence. Despite being married to Pontius, Triane has no capability for dealing with violence. She shuts down entirely. Unfortunately, Anarinuell tends to be a violent world.
  • Griffons. Not the clan, the animal. Triane /hates/ them.
  • Shamibelians. She has only seen one, on the way back from the Oracle. It picked her up -- onto a /griffon/ -- and began to fly off with her. On the way to wherever, the Shamibelian dropped her and Triane fell to what could have been her death. She very nearly perished. A Shamibelian is a terrible, fearsome creature and Triane settles them firmly in the "dislike" category.
  • Guards. Triane finds these people violent, brutish, and not very kind. She isn't a fan.
  • Karana and the current leadership of the Firanosian temple. Triane really dislikes the Acting High Priestess of the temple. And for Triane to dislike someone at all is a pretty amazing feat. She's equally disgusted with Kelarik and wishes her former Priestess-mentor, Anjani, would come back and take over.

Habits

  • Triane tends to carry around a rabbit in a baby pack.
  • When upset, Triane hides. If there is an animal around, she will talk to it instead of people, relaying her feelings to the beast rather than man. It's easier that way.
