Urtenia

Overview
DAME PREISTESS URTENIA
In many ways, Dame Urtenia's own life mirrored that of the Ticanee Clan as a whole. Already an adult shaman in service to the Dolo-Oshta when the Seven Heroes met the Ticanee, Urtenia was one of the first to learn the Firan language, from Lokaranis and Velani.
She also performed Bannos and Shara's first wedding, had a fling with Zarid (later resulting in the birth of her only child, Quonasi), and met the god Elik.
After that encounter, Urtenia went on to serve Elik as priestess throughout her life, encouraging mirthfulness and enjoyment of the seasons as well as promoting worship of the new prankster god. Urtenia's other great devotion was service to the Royal Ticanee family, whom she served for three generations of rulers. Such was her devotion to her Oshta and clan that she was named Sharani in her later years.
Age did not slow Urtenia down. She was in her late 40s when elected a Delegate for the first time. She was re-elected three more times, the last time completely unopposed. She also continued to act as a surrogate grandmother for many of Anarinuell's young people, from clan royalty to orphans. Urtenia always found time to serve others as healer, midwife, mentor, and Seer.
Urtenia shocked many when she married Wendos, a much younger Old City bookie, in 32 AU. Wendos died in 36 AU, after having confessed to involvement in the murder of a Bear noble, Dedalion. Some say that it was the shock of this death that led to Urtenia's final illness.
Urtenia's sense of humor was often evident, as she never hesitated to ask young men to dance for her while wearing loincloths and was, in her later years, rarely seen without her flirtatious, whiskey-loving plush companion Little Rasmus, the Spinyfish Doll.
Urtenia's passing in October of 36 AU was peaceful, in the presence of friends and, some say, her god Elik. She was mourned by many, including Elik who sent unseasonal snow to mourn her passing. In her memory, Clan Leader Taria Oshta has founded the Urtenian Order of Ticanee Healers. Urtenia is survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
