Overview
Born in Istagadin, in the year 10 A.U., Uryella Gadinik came to Anarinuell in the winter of her 15th year as an apothecarist fresh out of her apprenticeship. She didn't have many stenis on her, just her clothes and the things needed for her trade, and was welcomed coolly by her uncle Weezaros and his son Unsel who had recently won the titles of Sharanir and Queen's Champion. After staying with her uncle for a while Uryella was offered a job by judge Yarkon Aegrotik and found herself a sponsor in Lord Yaffros Iberik. In time she earned enough stenis to realize her lifelong dream: an apothecary shop of her own. Like all good Gold Dragon women however she needed a good husband and so ended married to Yarkon's son Pentheus, allowing her to leave the Gadinik family name behind. She learned to become a good cook and child caregiver, which lead to her not only becoming a good wife and mother but also to her being hired as a cook and nanny for the Manosik family, which she serves to this day. Widowed once, she now is the mother of 8 children, 6 sons and 2 daughters, and has been appointed the live-in caretaker of the Zutiv's Blessing Orphanage.
Family Life
Husbands
Uryella has been married twice.
The first time was to Mer Pentheus Aegrotik, oldest son of judge Yarkon whom she had been working for as a cook and nanny. Pentheus had long been in need of a wife and rumour has it that the judge asked her to move in specifically so that his sons (both of whom were long in their twenties and still single) would have a good single Gold Dragon woman around. Although she got along well with Gregor, Uryella and Pentheus ended up falling in love and were married in spring 28 A.U. The two of them had a happy marriage in spite of Pentheus being held by the Inquisition shortly after they were wed. He was released soon after however and the couple's reputation was good enough for them to be allowed to adopt 2 boys from Zutiv's Blessings Orphanage in addition to the 2 sons that were born between them. Pentheus died in 33 A.U. at the Market Massacre, laying down his life so that his men could bring the civilians to safety.
Uryella married Mer Raheem Firabi at June 21 in the year 34 A.U. A carpenter 16 years her senior, theirs started out as an arranged marriage but has since blossomed into another happy marriage, helped no doubt by the fact that Raheem has always been a father to not only his children but his four stepsons as well who moved into the old Firabi home with their mother. Finding himself with a reliable wife and mother, Raheem finally felt he was entitled for a bit of Gold Dragon glory and enlisted in the clan and republic military where he became known as one of the best artillery men one could find. The couple has so far been blessed with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls and currently resides at the Zutiv's Blessing Orphanage as the live-in caretakers.
Children
Treydan Aegrotik was born in the morning of March 15, in the year 23 A.U. according to the scroll his mother left with him at the orphanage. Treydan, or Trey as he's usually called, was adopted by Pentheus and Uryella at August 10 in the year 31 A.U. although he had been with them for quite some time before then, visiting his 'brother' Delmartan, who had been adopted the year before. A quiet but happy child, Treydan always had a tendency to beat up those bullies who went after the smaller and weaker children, something which has transferred over into the man he is today. Like his father Pentheus, Trey is devoted to protecting his family and serves as a member of the First division.
Delmartan Aegrotik was born sometime in July 25 A.U., although when isn't known exactly since no scroll was left with him at the orphanage. A happy and gregarious child, Del has a great love for music and loves to entertain people. Pentheus and Uryella adopted him on May 22 in the year 30 A.U. and he and he soon persuaded the rest of the family to let his 'brother' Treydan come live with them as well. They are best friends as well as brothers, in spite of having very diverse personalities. Del quite enjoys taking his younger siblings along on all sorts of trips and adventures, which has made him very much the heart of the family.
Iphios Aegrotik was born on April 8 in the year 29 A.U. and takes after his mother's side of the family. Uryella is prone to say he takes after her cousin Unsel who was present at his birth but the truth of the matter is that Iphios has inherited his temper from her as well. Although he is physically the weakest of Uryella's children, Iphios is quite stubborn and knows his place in life: the oldest son of the oldest son of the Aegrotik family. When he was 8 years old he, Trey, and Del all moved back into the Aegrotik Insula so they could learn more about their heritage.
Yaron Aegrotik was born on November 30 in the year 31 A.U. and has always been an extremely happy and healthy child. Like the rest of his brothers, Yaron loves to explore and go on adventures but he has a sense of music that is both astonishing and alarming. Often he manages to get himself lost while following a stray piece of music throughout the city and has to rely on strangers to bring him home. Uryella dotes on him and he is the only one of the Aegrotik children still living with her and Raheem.
Magda Firabi was born on December 8 in the year 34 A.U. and is the image of a quiet, perfectly behaved Gold Dragon girl. Often lost in a world of her own, Magda likes to dream and just observe the world rather than get in the trouble her many brothers are up to.
Rodrus Firabi was born on May 2 in the year 36 A.U. and is his father's son. Like Raheem he's a happy, enthusiastic lad and he loves to emulate his father, to the point of drawing on a goatee with mud every chance he gets.
Mirella Firabi was born July 5 37 A.U. and if Magda is the perfectly quiet Gold Dragon girl, then she is the perfectly spoiled Gold Dragon girl who knows just how to wind her parents and brothers around her cute little finger.
Rahunos Firabi was born on February 7 in the year 39 A.U. and looks remarkably like his father. A curious child, Rahunos tends to ask endless questions and likes nothing better but to toddle after his big brothers for the next 'adventure'.
Cousins
Uryella's most (in)famous cousin is Sir Unsel Gadinik, Sharanir and Champion of the former Queen Eliana. Since both were Gold Dragons who value family, the two were known to support one another if they had to but usually tended to play practical jokes upon one another, very public ones if they could get away with it. A famous example was when Uryella sent pink raspberry glazed cakes to virtually everyone in the city of Anarinuell for Unsel's birthday. Apart from about a dozen 'Happy Birthday' messages, Unsel received two dozen confused 'why did I get this?' messages, one promise of a favor from a noble, two death threats, 3 accusations of being a floof, one assignment of 10 push-ups, and one assignment of 20 laps to run. When all was said and done however, Unsel did like to spend time with Uryella's sons since he had none of his own and they tended to like him, especially Iphios who takes a great deal after his 'uncle'. Unsel died saving dozens of Ticanee slaves from certain sacrifice by sneaking into the city and leading them back out. The tunnel collapsed and he died as he had lived, a controversial hero. Uryella managed to persuade Clan Leader Amenik Istabelik of the Hydra Clan to officiate his funeral service.
Accomplishments
Legendary Herbologist
It starts with a whisper among women over tea. "Have you heard of the gathering skills of Mes Uryella Firabi? It is said she can find any plant, anywhere." Then news starts to spread, people begin to seek out the Mes for teaching of her craft. Healers turn to Mes Uryella for their medicines, knowing the best medicines make the healthiest patients, and she is tops in her craft. Then news spreads that she is working on a new invention, medicine to heal those with trauma to their lungs, along with a team of healers and herbologists assisting. The medicine is complete, and Mes Uryella is truly spoken of as a legend in the field of herbology. Her invention became known as a breathing compress.
The Dragon's Potion
Uryella came to Anarinuell with 2 goals: to find a decent husband and to own her own apothecary shop. She managed both and is now the proud owner of the Dragon's Potion, located right in her clan's market district. The shop is famous for offering only the very best quality medicines, potions, and food and while many other shops have since followed her example, she was the first.
Zutiv's Blessing Caretaker
Raheem and Uryella were asked by Lady Tia Firgalik to become the live-in caretakers for Zutiv's Blessing orphanage after the Lady Firgalik became displeased with the former caretakers and wanted someone more reliable. The couple is very much aware of the great honour bestowed upon them and look after the orphans in their care as if they were their own children.
Strawberry Tarts, Strawberry Cakes, and Fancy Cheesecakes
Uryella is not only a very accomplished apothecarist but one of the city's best-known cooks as well. So great were her skills that she was asked to help with the invention of three of the more delicious sweets that have come upon the market in recent years: strawberry cakes, tarts, and fancy cheesecakes.
Scandals
The Bloody Rooster Wedding
Uryella's cousin Unsel decided to gift her and her husband Pentheus with dozens of roosters on their wedding day and released them right outside the wedding maze alongside the gifts of the other guests present. What followed was of course bloody mayhem as the women ran screaming into the temples whereas the men began to slaughter the various roosters and managed to get injured themselves as well. By the time the unsuspecting couple came out of the wedding maze they found their guests in a state of bloody disarray.
Meet the Streaking Cousin
Since he couldn't very well have his cousin marry a second time without causing mayhem, Unsel ended up introducing himself to his new cousin-in-law Raheem dressed only in a loincloth and with body paint all over himself at the couple's wedding reception. He was then forcibly ejected by the officiating priest.
