Viceroy of the Firan Republic

The Viceroy was a relatively new position created to serve as a sort of Regent for the princes of the Elianik family, after the fall of Ranivor Vahlgellan in 24 A.U. due to his failure at forging peace between the warring Gold Dragon and Bear Clans. The Viceroy served on the Clan Council in a similar role to that of Ranivor Elianos, holding a vote and overseeing Republic matters such as the military and the administration of the Palace District.

In the winter of 48 A.U., chaos erupted after Prince Argin's challenged duel to the death against Prince Zaridos. The death of Argin at his cousin's hands lead to what is now called as The Kinslayer War. The Elianik Family members in the city were forced into hiding as mobs roamed the districts hunting for them. Eventually the family members all found themselves absorbed into their former or new houses. As the position of Viceroy was, in part, to serve as a stand-in for the Ranivor and guardian/regent for the royal family, the fall of the Elianiks rendered this position unnecessary. A Senate, New Republic/Coalition now attempts to control the roles formerly held by the Ranivor and Viceroy, having worked with the Clan Council to put into place a new Constitution.

Holders of the Office of Viceroy

• Sadin Elianik of the Chimera Clan

When Elianos and Sabine left on a quest with the remaining Heroes, Sadin held Proxy powers together with his uncles Vahlgellan and Solgarik as the Triumvirate. Later, Vahlgellan proclaimed himself Ranivor, and in times when Vahlgellan was unavailable, Sadin would serve as Acting Ranivor. In early 25 A.U. Sadin was banished for questioning his sister's rule of the Chimera Clan. Upon his return to the city, he proved once more that he was a dedicated servant of the Republic and was appointed by the Clan Council to serve as Viceroy. He held the office again for a second term after Lord Nydiam; it ended when he stepped down in 33 A.U. to allow Taleo Teranzik to take the position.

• Atreides Keniwik of the Gold Dragon Clan

Lord Atreides Keniwik is distinguished as the only neo-noble to hold the office of Viceroy. He died heroically at the Battle of Anar Creek and was succeeded by Lord Nydiam.

• Nydiam IstaNydiam of the Cockatrice Clan

Lord Nydiam served as Viceroy of the Firan Republic after Vahlgellan's banishment to Caldera City. This did not last long particularly long, however, as he stepped down in 27 A.U. to take up the Cockatrice medallion.

• Taleo Teranzik of the Bear Clan

Lord Taleo Teranzik was the last Viceroy of the Firan Republic. He began his hold of the office in May of 33 A.U. and held it until the fall of the Elianik family in 48 A.U.

Duties and Powers of the Viceroy

The Viceroy was a stand-in for the Ranivor of the Republic. As such, he was the commander-in-chief of all the military forces in the realms, as well as the guardian of the royal Elianik Family.

He had a lot of daily duties, including responding to messengers. He was also a member of the Clan Council with prosecutorial power. For several years, he assigned a Deputy Viceroy from among the promising young nobles and royalty to both help them learn the position as well as help him with the plethora of duties.
