Overview

Almost nothing is known about these strangers from the far South. They tend towards light hair, eyes and skin coloration and are significantly larger than the Firan norm. They are a hardy people, toughened by the icy conditions of their country.

The peculiar thing about the Vrelanders is that they seem to have access to some sort of "magic" unknown to the Firan people. It is unknown for the most part as only a small group of Vrelanders have, as of yet, made the journey to the Firan realm. However it is known that they are enemies of the Shamibelians and, for the time being, that has been enough to keep them on not entirely unfriendly terms with the Firans.

It should be noted that the surviving members of the Seven Heroes journeyed to Vreland in 20 A.U. as a diplomatic envoy; they vanished and have not been heard from since, at least according to public record. Rumor has it that letters from the Heroes may have arrived in Anarinuell with the mysterious Nekaht, but facts are still somewhat unconfirmed.

Physical Appearance

The Vrelanders are recent arrivals to the Firan world, and not very much is known about them. They are very big and tall by Firan standards, towering over the average Firan. They're also generally well-muscled. Vrelanders are usually blond, fair-skinned, and tend to have pale sea-green eyes.

Marriage Customs

Their height and generally good physique make them relatively fearsome opponents, and unlike the marriage customs of the Firan clans, a Vrelander woman's hand must be won in combat with a champion, not through courtship.

First Encounter

The first Vrelanders the Firan peoples encountered came from south of the Firan lands, on the other side of the Shamibelians; they liberated Agadin and Unotran from the Shamibelian forces who moved unusually early in the year 20 AU, and then arrived at Anarinuell at the beginning of March, 20 AU, where they were immediately attacked by the Firan military due to a misunderstanding.

Once the initial misunderstanding was settled, the Vrelander emissaries - Gundar Leifkin, his wife Kirsti Leifkin, their children Vorgan, Fresia and Rolf, and their companion Trudi Rothgarian - were guests of the Republic.

They explained that they were also fighting the Shamibelians, and from rescued Firan slaves, they had learned of the Seven Heroes. Presuming that these heroes were akin to gods, the Vrelanders asked that the Seven Heroes travel with them back to their lands. In return, Kirsti aided the Firan healers in curing the 'breath plague', a virulent coughing disease which spread quickly through Anarinuell not long before the Vrelanders' arrival, and which claimed a number of victims.

Vrelanders and the Heroes

In secret, the Ranivor met with the other surviving heroes and in mid-March of 20 AU, they decided to accept the Vrelander invitation and travel to their lands. With him, Elianos took Clan Leader Bannos, Lord Garen, Priest Lokaranis, Priest Velani Oshta, Queen Sabine Ista Aldrik, Lady Shara Istabannos, General Lidanos, General Ersin Ista Ankur, and the previously-banished Torvahl Oshta. They left in secret, leaving messages and their wills behind.

In the place of Elianos, a triumvirate of the three princes - Solgarik, Vahlgellan, and Sadin - was left in charge. The Leifkin family of Vrelanders remained in Anarinuell as ambassadors.
