War And Priests
From FiranMUX
War and Priests
- Blessings will be assigned and given out before major battles. Please do not bless anyone and everyone. There is a specific plan for who will be blessed. We have a spreadsheet for blessings, so please contact Donos, Karana or Fidelia with questions.
- o Some people, like IC leaders, will have command buffed up. Some soldiers will be combat buffed.
- o We are conscious of everyone’s role, so we will not be asking a medic-priest, for example, to bless someone’s intuition or memory. If you have specific concerns, please let one of us know.
- We ask that priests stay strictly non-combative unless you are already part of the Firan Military. We are working on a ratio system and it would be bad to have non-combatants accidentally counted as part of the ratio.
- There are temple tents for worship. Each one needs to be consecrated in order for it to be tagged a temple. The procedure for this is as follows:
- o 1) An IC ceremony, appropriate to the deity, needs to be informed. This needs to have more than one person taking part (3+ is good) though they don't all have to be priests, just the one leading the ceremony.
- o 2)@paybill/assist for 500 ERP to represent the labour (remember, every priest in the city is coming to war and icly it's more than just the PCs)
- o 3)@request with the title WARTP:<Deity Name> Tent. Include that you have consecrated the tent, relevant details of the consecration.
- Before each major battle or skirmish (which will be @cal’d), it is imperative that the temples hold worship ceremonies. We are going into this like the Shamibelians do. This is a religious war. We have more gods. We win. Worship Ceremonies will inspire morale (IC and OOC) as well as provide for some intriguing RP. Please have fun with these.
- Most Importantly: Have fun. Be Creative. Get involved. RP. Get into debates, but be mindful of the IC standing orders and the OOC standing Orders. Enjoy yourself.
Camp Life
- No ranks are used at war. This is to keep spies and the Shamibelians from targeting our leaders and causing mass confusion. Sir, Ma’am and role (such a soldier, pilot and priest) are preferable than worrying about rank.
- We have a chow line! Basically, members of the Fifth dole out food as needed by EP costs. Contact one of them and they’ll get you the type of food you need. Don’t worry about stocking up, but having a personal supply of your own can be helpful, for emergency situations.
- There are guard dogs around, though they are not code guarded. Please keep in mind that Civilians will be escorted pretty much everywhere. Members of the Fifth will be around as well as NPC soldiers. This is for your safety and for security reasons. Restricted areas are currently as follows:
- o Griffon Paddock
- o Supply Tent
- o General's Tent
- o Firan Fortress
- Along with this, letters and care packages to and from home are permitted. All letters will be grouped together and read for security reasons. Any sensitive information that is attempted to be sent back home, including locations, injuries and specific events will be subject to disciplinary action. Always keep in mind that you are in a military situation.
- There is a lot of downtime between the chaos of the battles. Some RP ideas:
- o Culture Shock: Priests generally don’t get to see the chaos of war often. Don’t be afraid to RP confusion. It might even help the transition.
- o Past Wars: Veteren Priests can talk to younger soldiers, younger priests about wars they remember, offering insight, encouragement and a religious bent on our current campaign.
- o Camp Life in general – it’s dirty. It’s smelly. It’s bloody. It’s chaotic. Soldiers don’t generally conform to social niceties. RP that conflict!
- o Encouragement – Priests will be key in morale. Offer words of console, encouragement, comfort. Help soldiers deal with the horrors they will be facing during combat.
- o Celebration – The key of war is remembering that it’s not about death. It’s about life. In the midst of blood and pain, start impromptu celebrations of life. RP with bitter soldiers and try to pull them out of their funk. Start a dance to boost morale.
- o Gaming – Soldiers like to gamble and game with things other than their lives. Join in on some of the activities and encourage that. Start them up if you can.
- o Worship Ceremonies – you can hold worship events outside of the planned battle ones. Try to keep the focus on the gods. Work with the conflict that, sometimes, war just seems like a cruel, godless affair. Encourage soldiers to work with you.
- o Chow time – There’s nothing that brings out the difference in mindset than a standard military chowtime, especially for those of noble birth. RP your discomfort, or RP your attempts at fitting in. There’s lots of conflict to be had around the soup pot. (Ask anyone that’s eaten Umut’s cooking)
