War Season 42: All Troops Briefing

From FiranMUX

Ion turns about just before reaching the Barracks and settles to waiting, there, near the doorway. He languidly folds his arms over his chest, proudly putting his scarlet-dyed sleeve on display (for kicks), and waits.

Tyrsun gives Marsalos a restrained, if slightly dour, look, and the puffs a quiet laugh. "About as expected, so far," he answers with some amount of amusement. *Firan*

Kelarik returns... with his spear. Man, but leaving one's spear just lying around in the bedroom all the time is a horrible habit.

Arinsana locates the 5thers in the crowd and goes to stand with them. The woman makes no conversation with anyone at the moment, though does nod in Yacen and Kelarik's direction.

Norik puts on his Sea Bound Iron Wood Axe.

Marsalos gives Tyrsun a tense grin that's gone in another second, clapping the former Gold Dragon on the back. "War'll be good practice, my friend." *Firan*

Yacen nods to Arinsana when she joins him and continues to wait as the post fills up with soldiers.

Wylma isn't looking very military -- but again, not a surprise. At least she's here. A sentry is directed to clear away the remains of the healerly exercise that was just completed. Wylma then settles back against a wall, top of her back leaned on it, legs crossed at the ankles, arms crossed beneath her breasts to watch, and presumably, to listen.

Donos walks at a brisk pace through the army post, escort in close order, shields clanging on their greaves as they march with the general who makes his way around the gathered soldiers to stand before the barracks.

Sabria goes over to follow Wylma as she's the highest ranking 5ther there. And she's Wylma.

Rikon picks hanging out with his sponsoree today. Hooray for Wylma.

Thaddia is looking all pretty pretty Princess-y. Except for the ear length hair. And the swords.

Karish bows to the nobles he sees and lingers near the back of the collected second divisioneers.

Marsalos straightens up, casting an amused glance over at Thaddia. He gives ye olde salute when Donos + entourage marches up, then settles in to listen to the schpiel.

Wylma is just that popular! Rikon gets a nod that looks pretty damn respectful in Wylma terms. Sabria's also given a rather more casual nod of greeting.

Eriden sees a lot of familiar faces, and waves to a few. He straightens up when Donos comes in, bowing, then scooting a little closer to Marsalos. Airforce FTW.

Arik ducks his way in belatedly. He skulks towards Marsalos for lack of anyone better to skulk near and joins in the saluting and usual nicities, as he waits to hear the briefing.

Thaddia plucks at a pink ribbon and gives Marsalos a grin.

Marsalos gives the secret hand-sign to Arik and Eriden.

Srenni raises her fist to her chest, remaining on her own for now. Her normal posture is pretty rigid, so there isn't much change other than the salute.

Donos lifts his voice, carrying easily through the post despite the many soldiers present. "Soldiers of the Republic. We are soon to march to war together, and a different war than any we have done before. We shall not be marching south to fight over the same land we, and our forefathers have battled over. We shall not be taking one or two forts and hoping to creep ever closer to Ellish in the future. Instead, this year's campaign is aimed at one thing, and one thing only. Retaking Ellish.

Even with the incredible success of the supply-gathering, and the commitment of the citizens of the Republic, as shown in the funding for this war, it shall not be an easy campaign. I will ask more of you than you have been asked before. To march harder and farther, to fight battles both large and small that, unlike previous wars, we simply cannot afford to lose. *Firan*

Hufimo comes in from the west. Hufimo has arrived.

Gaddineez turns his gaze up upon Donos, Gaddineez stands there silent, no longer leaning against his spear, but holding the weapon lightly in one hand as he gives the General his undivided attention. The mention of how the war will be fought this season brings a dark grin to the bonduin's features, obviously he likes the sound of this

Donos says, "Why? Because it is time. The Goats have controlled the Griffon's lands and city for too long. Too many Firans have died. Our friends, are fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers. All of us know of those who have died for just a scrap of land, only to see it traded back again for the return of those captured. It is time to say enough. To plan and execute a bold strike that will take the enemy by surprise, and see us knocking on the gates of Ellish instead of marching back with merely a few leagues of land to show for all the dead soldiers we leave in our wake."

"This war shall be long, it shall be hard but it shall see us victorious. After disembarking, we shall immediately begin scouting operations to determine where we shall draw their troops to, and then destroy them. After each battle, scouting will occur again..and again until we know the position of their forces better than their own warlords do. If you wish to volunteer for scouting, speak to your squad leaders. Each battle will see us use our strategies, our training against their mindless mobs. And as every Firan who ever played tackleball knows…skill wins."

Eriden cheers Donos!

Gaddineez praised Donos because 'A general with a mid for tactics against the goats'! Gaddineez praised Donos because 'A general with a mind for tactics against the goats'!

Marsalos folds his arms, shoulders at a confident tilt as he listens to the speech from the Head Honcho.

Gaddineez gets a bit of a grunt at the mention of tackleball, his eyes scan for any familiar faces of those he played tackleball with before his attention turns back towards the general. Gaddineez sends out a praise for the General but shuts up once that is said and done. At the mention of volunteering for scouting missions, Gaddineez tries to find his CO

Eriden cheers loudly, liking the idea of his first time at war being the final retaking of Ellish.

Donos says, "Later today you will form up on the fields south of the city to conduct a full war exercise. Pilots will be flying aloft, your captains and squad leaders will be ordering you to move as units, and you will rotate your lines so that the front troops are always the freshest, always ready to strike at the enemy and take their blows upon your shields. These week, as you've not doubt been relieved to see, are mostly free of military duties. See your families, go to the temples to pray and be blessed, and remind yourselves...what are we fighting for, and who are we defending?"

"Your Captains and squad leaders will have further information for you on the war at your squad briefings to come. Remember your training, remember why we fight and remember, if you're ever in doubt on where to go..charge to the sound of the fighting."

"Dismissed"

Ranselis looks grim as he listens intently to this speech, sober for once and then lowering his eyes. Dude. That's some real heavy shi-stuff.

Gaddineez raises his spear and barks out a cheer for the General, his heavily accented voice carrying aloft. Gaddineez then waves down a military messenger to send something off.
