Player Helpers Team Expansion
Firan wizards aren't often able to ask players directly to join the Player Helper team, but the assistance is very welcome. If you'd like to try your hand at being a Player Helper and you've been on the game at least three months, you can @request to indicate your interest. Our current Player Helper staff is listed under @phmentors in the game or here on the wiki. Typing @phers while in game will list all currently connected Player Helpers, too.
Friends, Firans, Rent Me Your Ears for 5,000 Social Points!
Firan has a coded system to allow characters to present ideas and arguments via speeches, through the orate command. There are both IC and OOC expectations for speechmaking. Recently the wizard staff proposed some changes to the speech policy and the players were polled to determine the best course of action. The in game files have been changed to reflect the results of that poll and you also can read about the updated policy here.
Firan Food Blogging
Firan Food Blogging is back for August! This time the challenge is to create a full course meal; you must prepare an appetizer, a main course and a dessert from the menu list. You can also find March's submissions linked on the same page.

The Feathered Gauntlet
After the deaths of former Princes Argin and Zaridos, and in the aftermath of the Kinslayer War, priests of Anarinuell received dreams that illustrated the gods' displeasure with Firan actions. Yet the message of the gods held hope that the people could redeem themselves, by successfully completing a series of divine challenges. Lady High Priestess Taleena has recently announced that the first challenge has been issued, by the Goddess Uf. The challenge has been presented to both the Clan Council and the Senate, and citizens have spread the heart of the message: "Zutiv expects you to be great, A new Oracle shall the King God sate."
Save It For A Raidy Day
Advance warning of a possible air raid has put the city of Anarinuell on high alert. The people scramble to prepare, and many attend lessons on firefighting and self defense or participate in clan, military and government meetings to finalize plans to stand against the dreaded Shamibelians.

July's Monthly Morsel
Whether you're a new player or a veteran, there is always something to (re)discover on Firan! This month we're highlighting the assess command. Often, people wonder who a shop or building belongs to in the Palace District. This command allows the Republic Minister of Land, Clan Leaders and Proxies to determine the owner of a shop, and add or update the information for recordkeeping purposes.

Only the Shadow Knows
Months have passed without word from Lord Rikon since he issued his threat against Lord Banian. Then recently, a Shadow Guard was spotted to the east of the city by Kisandera and Sabria, who were on patrol. An offer was made in exchange for releasing the guard -- Lord Rikon would reveal the exact date of the upcoming air raid.
The Heroic Return
When the news reached the city of Lady Shara's death, one of Firan's Great Heroes, Lord Banian IstaNydiam requested that his brother, Lord Aeryk, see to the safe return of Lady Shara's ashes. One eve, a strange report filtered through the city from the Temple of Zin. Witnesses say that the pool began to churn, and then to whirl into a vortex, and that Lord Aeryk, Lord Aristedes Corinala, Lord Kael N'Gato, Ambassadors Gazel and Naveen, young Lord Theron Didoron, Priestess Kodiachi Iyandin, Mes Fiora Keniwik, 1 eagle and 1 leopard all dived in and disappeared.
No one knew precisely where they went but some had suspicions. This wasn't the first time which the Temple of Zin's pool have magically brought people from one place to another; some remembered years ago when the Nekaht first arrived in the city. Weeks passed and no word until one evening when a giant eagle appeared in the Forum carrying the heoric Firans and the Sarojin Ambassadors within a giant basket. They returned victorious; it was a triumph -- a badly needed triumph to stir hope in the people before they march to Ellish.
A Zinnian Relic
A dream from Lord Zin brought the return of a relic. And now Lord High Priest Marsalos Iberik has the solemn duty to find a Zinnian follower worthy of the God's protection. Believers at the Temple have been heard to mention Ladies Cecilia and Nazina but also Meses Karlana and Analenia were heard. No decision has been made but followers are asked to contact the High Priest with worthy candidates.
Gladiator Games
With repairs done to the crumbled amphitheatre, the Lord of the Games organized the start to the gladiator circus. From the Rising Phoenix to the Torcadand, these gladiators met in the circle and entertained the masses. Future battles are on the way with more exciting battles. Bookies race through the city, citing the odds on these strong warriors.
Staff Priorities
Adam and Leia updated the game's high level priorities. Take a look at what the staff is working on.

Firebomb Cache
Intelligence reports from Ellish tell of a Shamibelian Resistance that is conserving what meager supplies they have in preparation for the arrival of reinforcements. There is talk of a sizable cache of Shamibelian firebombs that the goats have been hoarding in a hidden chamber beneath what used to be the Temple of Zin. That's the rumor, anyways. No one seems to know where this temple is or how to get to it. What the Coalition does with this new intelligence remains to be seen.
Halfie Weapon Supplier
Intel reports from Ellish have identified a haffie weapons merchant named Ocat. Ocat is not known to be affiliated with any one faction, but profits substantially by selling weapons, poisons, and other implements of war to opposing groups in Ellish. He is rumored to have contracts with both the Griffon Loyalists and the FFI, perpetuating their conflict so that he can line his pockets. It's unclear who his supplier is, but Third Division remnants have identified what they believe to be his base of operations inside the city.
Hostage Hospital
Another intel report from Ellish reveals a troubling situation to the southeast. A makeshift civilian hospital has been taken over and heavily fortified by a group of former slaves and haffies who are reportedly still loyal to the Resistance. The Third Division reports that the band of sympathizers is extorting the local populace by selling medicine at outrageous prices. Additionally, one of the patients in the hostage hospital is rumored to be a Ticanee dignitary of some sort.
Potential Defector
A further intel report from Ellish has identified a potential defector from the Shamibelian Resistance. The Third Division has been in contact with a haffie named Cokarin who they say is ready to come to the Firan side. Cokarin is allegedly in possession of some valuable information on the Shamibelians that he's looking to barter in exchange for safe passage and various comforts. However, Cokarin does not trust Captain Tanasi's authority. He is refusing to meet the Firans in person until he has certain assurances from someone who can guarantee what he wants.

With the upcoming war season, the queue is open for mission submission. Players can add their Ellish adventures to the map by clicking on the location on this map: Military Ellish Map. This way a record can be kept of the events as they occur in Ellish. Record your adventures in Ellish today!
News from Shamibel
A rider arrives in the middle of the night with important news for High General Cortik! He's a Centurion from Commander Corso's Iron Regiment and during a recent scouting mission discovered the goats were not an army. Rather, the Shamibelians have acquired a horde that the land itself appears unable to sustain them. The splintered Shamibelians warlords and their warriors have banded together unlike anything the Republic has seen in over 40 years. What is clearly evident is that defending Ellish to maintain that stronghold may not be as easy as imagined. Ominous signs lurk on the horizon; this war season shall be more challenging than the Liberation of Ellish!
Spring Festival
The flowers are in bloom and lovage is all around. It's one of the livelier annual festival around! Winter's over and it's time to throw on linen and garland. High Priestess Petula and Lady Teonia invite one and all to the Spring Festival!
Pentathlon Winners
The winner of the social pentathlon was Lady Nalene Ista Aldrik. She chose the marriage prize and was wed to Lord Aristedes Corinala. The winner of the 50/50 pentathlon was Lord Marsalos Iberik. He chose the marriage prize and then gifted it to Lady Teonia Teranzik. She chose to marry Clan Leader Torianos Elikista of the Chimera. The winner of the physical pentathlon was Lord Kael N'Gato. He chose the marriage prize and wed Lady Cataryna Ista Aldrik. Using his marriage prize from last fall festival, Lord Judanus Corinala gifted the prize to Lady Daliana N'Gato who chose to wed Lord Daranos.
Debated Future
Voices rose during the Kinslayer War for increased representation on the unified government level rather than solely relying upon the decisions of the Clan Council. Varying proposals were submitted, each unique in constructing a Senate and its membership and roles. In the wake of Senate talks, the Senatorial Debators and the Clan Council seem to be bumping up against each other. There are still those that call for a Senate and representation. And now, as the attempts to create such a government start building, there is a second call to let the Clan Council be the remaining power. While neither have a large hold, meaning, any could suffice with the populace. It is important that Firans be aware that both suggestions have support and it is yet unknown which side of the tug-of-war will come out on top. Mud slinging has begun with parties pointing fingers at another as responsible for stalling progress.
March
Message of the Gods
After a restless night of foreboding dreams, the clergy gathered at the Temple of Uf to share these mysterious messages. Lady High Priestess Taleena on behalf of the Religious Council announced the gods' displeasure of their actions during the Kinslayer War. The gods had departed for a meeting and when their backs were turned, Firans were killing Firans. All was not lost, however. The gods are giving the Firans another chance to restore the faith through a series of trials and challenges. The first is expected to be announced soon.
Economic Woes
Inflation is at an all time high in the city. Taverns and local Palace District Shops have yet to lower prices much to the populace's chagrin. Clan leaders are expected to discuss their clans' economic future and seek an increase upon trade agreements.
(OOC: The @clan econ-system will be revitalized in the coming months. Players may review the DRAFT econ page to get a vague idea of what's to come but nothing should be acted upon until staff blows the whistle for go.)
