From FiranMUX
The Firans are a people with a long history and strong culture who lived in tumultuous ancient times, when heroes fought beasts and Gods walked amongst them. Theirs is a story of a people's struggle against the Gods, against themselves, and against Fate.
The Firans are a relatively moral, social, peace loving, and god-fearing race of people. Though an average Firan would identify him or herself as belonging to one of the now eight Firan clans, Firans are more alike than they are different and there is little doubt that they are becoming a more unified people every day.
Still, the past 34 years have been very hard times for the Firans; there have been genocidal wars between the clans themselves, the gods have meddled in their affairs, a supernatural beast was unleashed upon them, they were invaded, enslaved, and driven from their homeland into exile in the caves (and a Caldera City high up in the mountains) by the hated Shamibelians, and they've had to stave off the uprisings of traitorous cults in their midst.
But there have also been triumphs for the Firans in the past 34 years. Through the cooperation of all the clans, seven heroes were sent to conquer the beast, and conquer it they did. Firans have acquired domesticated animals, and more than doubled their technology level (both through diplomacy and outright theft from their enemies). The Firans have forged closer relationships with their Gods and even secured Their help on numerous occasions, including the largest triumph of all, the recapture of the Firan homelands from the Shamibelian enemy.
It has been at least nineteen years since the Firans recaptured Anarinuell from the Shamibelians and yet, the war is still not over. Though the Shamibelians were driven back (through a combination of strategy and divine intervention), the Firan city of Ellish is still occupied, and yearly attacks are planned to win it back. The people demand nothing less.
And the saga continues ...
Races
There are seven races known to Firans, in addition to the Gods themselves. They are:
- Firans, a republic of humans divided up among several clans.
- Ticanees, the "lost" clan of Aerval, said to be descended from Srenna's children.
- Bonduins, a nomadic race driven out of their lands by Shamibelians.
- Giants, rumored to be favored of the Goddess Uf with a possible connection to the Lanesh.
- Shamibelians, an evil empire of gaunt, horned beings intent on enslaving the world.
- Half-Shamibelians, children of Firan mothers and Shamibelian fathers, usually the result of rapes during the Great War.
- Vrelanders, a mysterious people from a land south of Shamibelian territory. Little is known about these people save that they are fierce warriors and also enemies of the evil Shamibelians.
- Nekaht, slave-owning peoples who live in the Kingdom of the Nekaht. They worship a number of gods, but Shoshenk the river God as their main god as well as a sun-deity figurehead in their King, the Kalikhet. They came to Anarinuell and stayed for 3 years in 37 A.U.
