Official Statement
A great Shamibelian has died and now his slaves, my kindred, may be executed by the end of the night. Of course I have been crying all day! After all, my name is Yvette Vettle and I strive to be worthy. I am just a small woman--I could never have killed Governor Hralib, even if his armor was missing. But everyone knows that Lainath Samiroon wants to marry Hralib's step-daughter Tabitha. He challenged Governor Hralib to physical combat over and over again, and kept losing. Maybe he finally decided to catch the Governor without his armor, and killed him in the process.
Background
Yvette stayed sane when Razesh died fighting on the walls of Anarinuell. She stayed sane when she was taken captive, and turned into a slave. She kept her wits about her when they stripped her bare, auctioned her off, and turned her into a brothel slave. She learned to serve her master so over zealously that he eventually gets sick of her and sends her away so she can do her own thing. She spills drinks on him when she's serving his favorite, she accidentally pokes him in the eye while trying to clean him up, she says "MASTER" just a little too loud in his ear. But she's been perfectly sane. Until yesterday.
Something happened to make her snap. There's little more dangerous than a Didoron with nothing left to lose.
Relationships
- Rodiste and Osirus -- Yvette's brother-in-laws, and the only thing of Razesh that she has left.
- Aldrin and Akiva -- Yvette's Ista Aldrik cousins.
- Hashi -- Yvette's Master.
- Fissia -- Hashi's wife. Yvette's mistress.
- Savaren, Gilin, and Aylina -- Hashi's other slaves. They all live with Yvette together on mistress Fissia's land.
- Brizo -- An old priest of Kamnestra. Yvette hates him with a passion. She won't say why.
- Puria -- Yvette's sister-in-law, Firistan's widow, for whom she often goes to comfort, even though she's a monotheist, because she understands what Yvette is going through.
Goals
- Try not to be executed for murder
- Try to earn stenis at your new profession for your master
- Attend your master's every need, with overzealous enthusiasm
- Convince your master to go raiding. Yvette kind of likes stealing from other Shamibelians and she could use the money.
- Seduce men and steal their money if possible
- Perform your rope tricks

Yvette Round One
Round One Reveal
Everyone knows that the Shamibelian warrior, Lainath, has some mixed blood. That's why Governor Hralib wouldn't let him marry his step-daughter, Tabitha. Well, Yvette remembers that last night, Tabitha was flirting outrageously with Lainath at the Night of Obala's Pride. If Hralib had seen her, he might have sent her back to Ellish, and maybe Lainath thought he needed to protect his lady love by killing off her overbearing step-father.
Everyone knows that last night, before the sacrifice, Akiva humiliated her master by begging on her hands and knees to spare Fidelia from being sacrificed to Obala. As punishment, Akiva was stocked for the night, so how could she have killed Hralib or Throgana?
Yvette knows that Aylina has occasionally been seen putting potions and special herbs into her cooking. Yvette knows that the slave Akiva Samiroon is Aylina's friend, and seems to be protecting her. Is she hiding something that got Hralib and Throgana killed?
Round One Conceal
When the Shamibelians overran Anarinuell, Puria tried to hide her sons in a rug, all rolled up. When she realized it was hopeless, she smothered them to death rather than let them become slaves. Look at the way Hralib died? It was as if someone was trying to send a message, the way he was rolled up in that rug.
Yvette has been desperate to get her children out of Anarinuell. She knows that Razesh would never want to see them raised in slavery, if he were alive, and she cannot bear to have them growing up, seeing her work as a brothel slave.
When Yvette found out that Father Brizo was running an underground railroad for children, she was eager to seek him out. She begged him to take her children. He told her that there were many risks, that Governor Hralib might find out, and if he did, it would be kill or be killed.
Yvette would kill for her children, without question.
Whenever Hralib purchased a night with Yvette, he would make her perform her "special trick" and she would always return in tears, bitter and murderous. She hated Hralib and wished him dead.
Last night, Yvette "borrowed" a knife from Osirus. Most slaves aren't allowed to have weapons, so Yvette has to keep hers hidden. It'd have taken a strong knife like the one she's carrying to cut off Hralib's finger.
Today, for Yvette, is the worst day of her life. She cannot concentrate on anything, and she bursts into tears regularly.
Round One Props
- Ropes with which to perform her trick
- A lucky knife (concealed)
- A prostitution permit
Yvette Round Two
Round Two Reveal
Hralib was trying to get his wife Nobifa pregnant, but because he did not trust the fertility potions she was taking, he commanded Melani to acquire some for him. (Hralib talked in bed.)
Hralib impregnated his slave Melani, and told her he was so proud of how she'd finally submitted to him that he was going to announce it to everyone. Might Melani have killed Hralib to keep Torianos from finding out? (Hralib liked to brag about women he slept with, including brothel slaves.)
Gilin has a monkey-like ability to get in and out of tight spaces, sneak up on people, and pass undetected. She could have snuck up on Hralib and kill him before he even knew she was there.
Hralib's missing son favored her fellow slave Aylina as a whore. Some say he was in love with her.
Yvette knows that Aylina has ash on the bottom of her slippers--could this be the same ash that was found on Hralib's body?
Yvette knows that Hashi was trying to forge a Last Will and Testament for Hralib in case his father decided to disinherit him.
Yvette knows that her mistress, Vitara Fissia, cannot stand her husband, Hashi. She's always telling Yvette that she thinks Hashi is a worthless husband and wishes that he'd die. Most of all, she doesn't think Hashi deserves to inherit anything... so why would she kill Hralib, unless it was to throw suspicion onto his slaves, so that her husband wouldn't inherit a thing.
Hashi Vettle's dog Spike is loyal only to his wife Fissia, and she has trained it to kill on command. Fissia threatens slaves by telling them that if they don't obey, she'll cut off their fingers and feed them to her husband's dog, Spike. Wasn't Hralib scratched and missing a finger?
Yvette loaned her earrings to Tabitha for the Night of Obala's Pride, they were earrings that Fissia made in the Firan style out of some bones that Aylina gave her.
Yvette knows that her fellow slave Savaren came 'home' wet and shivering the Night of Obala's Pride, and that even now, he seems to be suffering from hypothermia. He also had a bloody nose. Could he have gotten it in a struggle with Hralib?
Yvette knows that, because her mistress Fissia lacks talented slaves, she has been forced to make earrings in her spare time, to supplement her family's meager income and support her lands.
Yvette knows that her mistress, Vitara Fissia, once asked if she was literate, and whether or not she could write Shamibelian documents.
Round Two Conceal
Yvette knows that Priest Brizo once said he'd rather die, or kill, than let children fall into enemy hands.
Yvette knows that Brizo was hiding Ania's children in a secret chamber of the Temple of Kamnestra, but once Hralib decided to clear out the temple for his wife Pevifa, Ania's heirs had to go.
Brizo was worried that Hralib could be on to his 'children's underground railroad' scheme. Because of this, Brizo decided to smuggle Yvette's children out before Ania's, as a "test-run" to make sure that his contact at the border wasn't really working with the Shamibelians.
Well, the test run failed. When Brizo tried to smuggle her children out, they were caught and killed. Hralib was probably on to Brizo's underground railroad -- best reason to kill Hralib yet.
Indeed, Yvette is ready to kill and burn down this whole city in her grief. When Brizo told her that her children were dead, she was so upset, she stabbed him to death. She cannot figure out how he is still alive, and she suspects that Priest Tatomir has used his evil magic to reanimate the dead.
If Tatomir can use his evil magic to re-animate the dead, then Yvette knows what she has to do. She will beg, borrow, steal, and betray. Anything to have him bring her babies, Jaxon and Aldrette, back to life. She has their little shoes. Hopefully that will be enough.
Round Two Props
- Children's Shoes
Round Two Additional Goals
- Get Tatomir to bring your babies back to life with an ostentatious bribe
- Steal the money and treasure you'll need to pay him
- Find out the names of the leaders of the Firan Resistance, so that you have something to give Tatomir in return
- Yvette can't give up Father Brizo or else it will implicate her for trying to smuggle her children out, so she has to make up some lie about how they died
- Since Yvette can't give up Father Brizo, she thinks he should die, again, for letting this happen.
Yvette Round Three
Round Three Reveal
Yvette knows that late last night, Aylina returned to Hashi's tents carrying a large bundle, which she buried.
On the other hand, Yvette knows that Aylina couldn't have murdered Hralib--she was too calm. The Night of Obala's Pride, she even woke up and had herself a snack that she called finger-licking-good.
Yvette knows that Warlord Ruffialo Vettle and his slave Sarina snuck off from the Night of Obala's Pride and trespassed on Pevifa's property where the old Temple District used to be. Did they set a trap for Hralib and lay in wait? (Yvette saw them while she was waiting for Brizo behind the Temple of Kamnestra.)
Round Three Conceal
After stabbing Brizo, Yvette took a late night bath to wash the blood off her hands. She didn't kill Hralib, unfortunately. But she's happy to kill any Shamibelian she sees now. And Brizo. Again.
