ZAYES VASEN-DARKAS

Lady High General and Srennian High Priestess Zayes was born and raised in the city of Anarinuell. Her father murdered and her mother having been taken in childbirth by the time she was eleven, the orphaned Zayes took to working every day for whoever would hire her. It was during these years of hard labor that she gained both inner and outer strength. At the age of 14 she joined the military. Going from Sentry to Commander by the time she was 18, she eventually transferred to lead the 2nd Division Infantry under then High Priest of Srenna, Sir General Agarn. There would be poetic irony in this. In 20 A.U. she won a pentathlon and chose nobility. Lady Junia, the Bear Clan Proxy, made an apparent deal with Clan Leader Judanarius which included Zayes' transfer to the Griffon Clan, thus naming her the head of the noble Vasen-Darkas House. Her prowess in war earned her the position of Minister for the Griffons and then Clan Proxy after Lady Eve's murder.

Following war seasons brought much success: Pushing the Shamibelians out of Fort Obala, then renamed to Fort Sacrifice, to the loss of Sir General Agarn, to her ascension to High Priestess of the Srennian Temple, and finally to the loss of Fort Sacrifice in a deal struck by the politicians. In 23 A.U., Zayes considered retirement, but was talked out of it by Vahlgellan. She decided to carry the weight of the High General rank. During the war season of 27 A.U. she was instrumental in the recapturing of Fort Sacrifice, but at a heavy price. It is said that negotiations between the Firans and Shamibelians went awry and Zayes paid with her life during a battle. It is said that blue holy flames erupted around her body, knocking back everything within view. The flames flickered up like a ward to those who would desecrate Srenna's fallen High Priestess and a war cry was heard in the distance. The Fort was renamed in her honor. Zayes is survived by her only child, her daughter Srenni.
