Overview
Those who were close to Zeysani, and admittedly there were very few that could claim closeness to the Eagle Clan Leader besides her twin brother Nydiam, would define her as a strong-willed, sanguine, steadfast woman who led her clan to an age of prosperity. Her style of no-nonsense leadership combined with a studiously aloof air had earned her the less charitable, and rarely publicly spoken, description of 'Ice Princess' from those outside her inner circle.
Like many leaders, Zeysani defined her people, and where she led, they followed. She was a firm believer in traditions, and stood by her convictions, not bowing to fads or easily allowing changes in social structure, realm laws or clan laws. And she was touched by the presence of her Grandfather, the Lord God Zin.
Zeysani's War
In the year 33 A.U., civil war broke out between the old enemies of the Eagle clan, the Hydra clan. And it was this war that led one of the most esteemed clan leaders of the Eagles to her death. When an old enemy of the clan, the traitor Pavan, seemed to rise from the dead to lead the Hydrans to attack the Eagle city of Lurashar, Zeysani herself went to her armies to unite them and to solidify their morale and determination. Betrayed by a flag of truce and refusing to give into enemy demands, not even the threat of death crumbled her resolve and willpower. She stood proudly defiant and unyielding to the very end, the traitor Draugik taking her life. Before she died, Draugik allowed to write out her final words.
This war would go on to be called Zeysani's War.
Zeysani's Death
"You have chosen my death. I will not assist you with it."
When traitor Draugik IstaDraugik offered Zeysani a choice of the spear or the gallows constructed upon Arinzi's walls, that was the Clan Leader's response. In frustration, the haffie thrust the spear through her heart.
Those who were in Arinzi and saw the murder all tell the same tale. There was a great burst of light from the Eagle medallion and when people could see again, Draugik was a statue of glass. Hydran soldiers all around had fallen dead. Then the skies opened up and it began to rain, though where Zeysani had fallen, not a drop fell. No one could touch her body and it continued to rain over the entire city for many months, her body never changing in appearance - she looked just as she had the day she was slain. Finally the spouse that Zin had brought to her, Lord Donos Ista Aldrik, was allowed to come to the city to claim her body, bringing it to Anarinuell for a royal funeral.
The funeral took place on October first, in the year 33 A.U., along the river on property of the Ista Aldrik family. People all over went into a state of mourning.

Family Life
Siblings
Nydiam IstaNydiam is Zeysani's twin brother. They had a special connection that never broke. On most issues they stood together and no one truly understood their bond.
Sir Quonasi is Zeysani's half-brother, child of Admiral Zarid and Dame Priestess Urtenia. He was born to serve the Oshta family and exiled in 24 A.U..
Fridae Zaridik is Zeysani's sister through adoption. She had been Admiral Zarid's sidekick. They weren't particularly close, as Zeysani was very proper and Fridae wasn't particularly so. Fridae died during the Red Bloom epidemic of 40 A.U..
Husbands
Prince Solgarik Elianik was Zeysani's first husband. Their romance was the stuff of legends. Nobles tend to marry for political reasons, not love, but this couple made for a true love story that stemmed from a noble marriage. This came to an end when Solgarik was put into a long, deep sleep and eventually died.
Lord Donos Ista Aldrik married Zeysani secretly. In his eulogy at Zeysani's funeral, he stated that Lord Zin brought them together through the Kraken, a sacred creature of her grandfather, who brought her to a small island where they were married.
Children
All of Zeysani's children are believed to be the great-grandchildren of Zin himself.
Lianos Elianik was Zeysani's child by Solgarik, twin to Zaridos. To protect him, they spirited him away to Caldera City under the guise of kidnapping. The Iberik family raised him and he returned to Anarinuell after Zeysani's death. As such, she never really knew him.
Zaridos Elianik was Zeysani's child by Solgarik, twin to Lianos. Unlike his twin, he remained in Anarinuell while growing up. Zeysani's relationship with her eldest son was very formal, although she did have to get involved in his many scandals.
Ania Istaneysani was Zeysani's child by Solgarik and heir to the Eagle Clan, born after Zaridos and Lianos. She was sheltered for fear of kidnapping and bred to be a leader, though Zeysani only saw her occasionally due to her duties as Clan Leader.
Daranos and Nazina were Zeysani's children by Donos, both young when Zeysani died.
Accomplishments
Banik's Statue
During Lord Banik Istabannos's first episode as a statue, Lord Yaffros Iberik stole him from the True Temple of Zutiv and dropped him into the pool of Lord Zin's temple. Once it was discovered where the statue was located, Zeysani, Lord Nydiam and Prince Solgarik dove in to tie ropes to it. With the help of many others present, they hauled it out of the pool, to remain in the Temple of Zin.
Eagle Clan Leader
In 21 A.U., Zeysani's twin brother, Nydiam, was the Eagle Clan Leader. He announced the birth of his first children, which were twins. This led to riots that killed one of the children and a civil war over his proposed baby lottery. Zeysani stepped in, forcing Nydiam to abdicate his throne and becoming the Eagle Clan Leader herself. Once she had ascended the throne, the rebels ceased their actions. Perhaps they wanted Nydiam out of power, or maybe she supported them. Regardless of the reason, without their actions she might not have reached the throne. The rebels were pardoned.
Eagle Clan Prosperity
Under Zeysani, the Eagle Clan prospered. The morale among her people ran high and remained that way for the entirety of her reign. Not only that, but for most, if not all, inter-Republic wars, they were on the winning side.
Allies
The Eagle, Ticanee, Cockatrice and Gold Dragon clans banded together in the Alliance War, and Zeysani found allies in all three of those Clan Leaders.
Nydiam
Although Zeysani had taken the Eagle throne from Nydiam, he went on to be the Cockatrice Clan Leader. They remained close despite this and were allied with each other in everything.
Jalil
Lord Jalil Firgalik was not a friend, but he was an ally. The two clans found themselves on the same side a majority of the time. Zeysani respected him as a leader, even if she didn't always agree with his thoughts and decisions.
Taria
From the time of Taria Oshta's marriage to then-Clan Leader Jalil Firgalik, Taria and Zeysani were friends. They quickly became close, despite their opposite personalities; Taria being fierce and loud while Zeysani lived up to her nickname of the 'Ice Princess', rarely raising her voice (unless Zaridos was doing something particularly insane). Even though Taria tended to scandalize Zeysani, they stuck together as both friends and allies.
Enemies
Pavan
Pavan was twice a traitor. In the first instance, he was thought to perish at sea during the Hydran Civil War in 29 A.U.. However, he returned to Arinzi in 33 A.U. and launched an attack on the Eagle Clan's Navy. He was assassinated by Hadinikas.
Draugik
Sir Draugik Vasen-Darkas (or self-proclaimed Lord Ista Draugik) was once trusted by Zeysani. He even gave her his pentathlon prize once and she called him her Champion on a couple occasions. Not only was he once trusted Zeysani, but Solgarik, her former husband, as well. During Zeysani's War, he turned traitor, supposedly acting for Vahlgellan. After capturing and murdering Zeysani, he was turned into a statue.
Vahlgellan
Prince Vahlgellan Elianik claimed he didn't want Draugik to kill Zeysani, but he didn't stop the haffie either. Many felt he was insulting Zeysani by making the Kraken Clan, as the Kraken is a sacred creature of Zeysani's grandfather and she, herself, had been in contact with it. He died in a high security Bear noble prison cell under mysterious circumstances.
Scandals
Lady Eve's Throne
Zeysani's mother, Lady Eve was once the Eagle Clan Leader. She forced her mother to step down by revealing the affair and pregnancy by Lord Judanarius Corinala. While Zeysani was attempting to seize the throne herself, her twin brother Lord Nydiam was named the heir to the throne instead.
Marriage Prize
During the Spring Festival of 23 A.U., Sir Draugik Vasen-Darkas claimed a marriage prize for winning the pentathlon and gave it to Zeysani for her own use. In turn, Zeysani passed it on to Lady Yasha Iberik, urging her to choose Lord Sabinus Rissik, just days before he was to be wed to Lady Petrina Ista Aldrik. This lead to rioting in the Bear Clan and eventually the Alliance War.
Tanelish Ennoblement
In April of 28 A.U., Zeysani elevated the Tanelish family back to the noble status they had had while still the Jianni Family. Even when they were noble before, they were neo nobles, so it was no different this second time. This gave the Eagle Clan four noble families, on par with the Gold Dragon Clan and the Bear Clan. If neo nobility did not irk old-blooded ones enough (which it did), the two clans weren't pleased with the numbers.
No Last Name
Noble and common families alike began to take on last names, but Zeysani would have none of it. Instead, she claimed in a speech in 32 A.U. that to go without a last name was a tradition. The Eagle Clan wasn't particularly happy about this decision, however, as it was confusing enough with her eldest three children being Elianiks, her husband an Ista Aldrik and her fourth child with no last name to speak of.
After her death, her daughter and heir Ania declared that the Royal Eagle family would take the last name Istaneysani.
Twin Magic?
It was no secret that Zeysani was a twin. Rumors flew about how twin magic could kill people, as Meliha had warned. When she died, many Hydrans around her did as well. Nobody could even touch her corpse to move it until her husband came. Nydiam, her twin, aged considerably and instantly upon her death.
But was it twin magic, the medallion, or Lord Zin's work?
