ZUTRAN: City of Zutiv

Though not the oldest or largest Firan city, Zutran does boast a sizable population and an educated community. A long time ago, Zutiv supposedly landed here in a fiery chariot. A tribe from the Clan of the Bear saw his descent from the sky, and hurried to greet him with gifts, sacrifices, and prayer. Upon reaching the spot, Zutiv commanded them to build a great temple to him, and he made crystal rock rise out of the ground for them to quarry. There the Firans constructed an enormous temple of granite and quartz and a city of clay brick around it. This was the first time that any deity had demanded a temple be devoted solely to them; consequently, there is argument among the Firans whether Zutiv intended to be worshipped as the only god, or as the chief god. The Bear Clan, who claims an interest in the site, is polytheistic, but the Hydra Clan, in whose borders this city now resides, is monotheistic.

The city consists of thousands of maze-like passages with some main streets. The people here live modest lives. Some are priests who come to train in the art of whip warfare or to learn the mysteries of Zutiv. Others are devout worshippers, sages, oracles, historians and chroniclers, philosophers and academicians. A small number are merchants, guides, innkeepers and the like, who make their living off pilgrims and visitors.
